Okay, poor wording reading back. I'll change it to "One of the main reasons". He was a legend, he is a legend, but his legendary status was heightened because of his death.

Imagine the memorable pictures, if Senna as the F1 superstar at that time would have driven the victory lap with an Austrian flag in Imola 1994. I guess that would have also heightened his legendary status. Maybe Senna would have played the leading role in pushing for safety improvements and then after his career end he would have founded and managed the charity foundation in Brazil by himself.

Senna's legend was always more than facts and figures but his legendary status already existed in 1994.
Let's say his legend was freezed by his death as he had no "opportunity" to dismantle his own monument later in his career/life with any sort of mistakes or scandals.

Yes Kals I know that and said that they were the rules at the time and I acknowledge and understand this. Nothing is ever going to change the fact that Senna won the championship, I am not saying he didn't deserve to win it, he had a great season. But here are the results from that season which has made me reconsider my position. It wasn't as clear cut a season of Senna dominance as I thought (Qualifying yes).

Senna (dropped score)
0 9 0 6 9 9 6 9 9 9 9 0 (1) (3) 9 6 = 90 Points 94 Points possible

Prost
9 6 9 9 6 6 9 0 6 (6) (6) 0 9 9 (6) 9 = 87 Points 105 Points possible

Senna won 8 with 3 second places a sixth and a fourth and two retirements, 13 poles, 3 fastest laps.

Prost won 7 with 7 second places and two retirements, 2 poles, 7 fastest laps

(By the way www.statsf1.com is a great website)

So what you are saying Phil is that as a Webber fan we can no longer use this as an excuse as to why he doesn't get the results?....Shit....this was one of my only comebacks.....

It means terminal mechanical failures, and during this period I can remember several KERS failures and other things going wrong, they just haven't put him out of the race completely ... that said, I don't think we can say that Webber is more or less lucky than Vettel with car failures though - Vettel's lost a few wins and other good results due to failures, at the start of 2010 especially, and of course Valencia this year - but he got that back in Singapore. Webber seems to have lots of little niggles that stop him getting a strong result, but don't eliminate him entirely. Having had endless trouble getting off the line, he's also often further back for any start-of-race incidents and/or difficult afternoons.

My post was meant to come off as patronizing webbsy. What was actually trying to say was that despite the new details you've become aware of, I don't believe you necessarily need to think anything less of Senna.
