F1 teams didn't raise the issue, but don't let that get in the way of your moan.

Looks great! Are that safer barriers on picture 2?

Nah, it's special plastic barriers that interlock. Kinda like these. http://www.pensito.eu/custom-made-plast ... rier.2.jpg

I also like it but those Esses on the first pic aren't exactly what I was looking for.

I think those would be nicer if were more of high speed rather than "Mickey Mouseish"

It looks neat, those esses look promising, but I see nothing to be "in love" with at this stage tbh. It's not like there's some fantastic surrounding scenery or any unique features. It looks just like another new track in the making, I'll wait to see cars running.

Is that gravel at the esses? 8O Or just tarmac that looks a little different?

Well, I just think it looks like a fantastic circuit anyway. I hope they make the scenery look nice of course, but we're never going to get a Suzuka or Spa style circuit immediately because of the natural evolution and the modern safety standards. But it looks like Tilke's best circuit yet.

I'll have to wait until FP1 to be able to say anything like that

Quote:
Speed TV commentator Will Buxton kicked off a controversy this morning by tweeting that the garages at Circuit of The Americas were too small and that the Formula One teams were meeting with safety inspector Charlie Whiting in Japan about the matter.

Circuit officials and the engineers at Tilke GmbH say the garages are fine and meet the requirements by FIA, the governing body for Formula One and other automobile series. Here’s the numbers from Tilke.

FIA proposal: 18.00m X 7.00m = 126.00 square meters

Austin: 18.85m X 6.70m = 126.30 square meters

India: 19.15m X 6.75m = 129.26 square meters

Abu Dhabi: 21,76m X 6.80m = 147.97 square meters

Nick Craw, the FIA’s highest ranking U.S. official, told the American-Statesman in an email: “News to me; I’ve been in them and they’re huge. Plus Tilke knows the specs.”

Circuit of The Americas passed its final safety inspection by Whiting late last month. The track will host its first Formula One race Nov. 16-18

Kind of what I expected, would surprise me if a company such as Tilke's would fuck up something like that.

For me the size of those boxes looks pretty good IMO, by the way congratulations to the workers in Austin, great job! COTA looks comfortable and installations seem to be high quality ones. F1 teams are wanting too much...unbelievable! What fantasy world are they living in? The boxes are fine! Compare this to Interlagos and you'll see what's lack of space.

Picture taken by me in July at Interlagos.

How do you think that's a lack of space?

Might be a total coincidence, but the Hulk has today started to follow Alonso on Twitter...

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It looked a bit suspicious when no-one else was reporting it (the garage issue)

And COTA is by far the best track Tilke had produced so far, theres lots of corner types, gradient, overtaking places and most importantly, its a challenge for the drivers and there should be lots of mistakes
