Go ultra-trad and decide the grid based on who arrives first.

Oh how awesome. Just pull numbers out of a hat and get it over with.

Just combine all shit ideas
He who arrives first gets pole but can lose it if another name is drawn from a hat. But the hat is filled by fan-voting so a driver might have 2 million times his name in the hat. And if there is a tie for who arrived first their girlfriends will have to oil-wrestle to declare a winner. Also, it has to be a girlfriend. No wives allowed. Married drivers shall take on a girlfriend but cannot tell their wife about it and the wife has to find out during the weekend. Which obviously will be filmed by Netflix.
And in the end Netflix producers will have the final call on the grid order as they seem fit but viewers have to wait until the new Drive to Survive season is dropped to know the real results. :whistling:

In fairness, this is still easier to explain to viewers than aggregate qualifying :flag:

this puts another great idea for qualifying. F1 must make their own version of Scenes from a hat of Whose line is it anyway? and the best drivers doing it will have the best grid positions

Use their drivers numbers (world champion is given his original number instead of #1).

Imagine the announcement. You know these random numbers that you all chose a couple of years ago? It had a reason!

Logan Sargeant for pole!

But there has to be the number of grid slots relating to the driver numbers

Like Lewis Hamilton starts 44th, Oscar Piastri starts 81st etc.

This might sound like sarcasm but motorsport is so dumb by handing the biggest advantage anyone can get to the fastest car.

Reverse grid every race. Max Verstappen starts 20th every race, he could still probably win the title.

There used to be a time when the fastest car (and driver) over one lap was likely not the fastest during the race.

And even when they were the fastest across both disciplines, the car was being stressed in race conditions and therefore might fail.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

i.e. quali specials. Special tyres/engines etc. Minardi popping up on the front row.

And of course they could change parts all they wanted. Unlimited engines etc. And like I said before, no parc ferme. I remember when they started all this they said it would lead to more breakdowns, what bullshit that was.

That happened last year with Ferrari.

for me the most classic example was Senna in 1985, he had 7 pole position starts but if he drove like that during the race the car would last 5 laps

no wonder he only won twice that season both with wet conditions and in the others he struggled with fuel consumption and technical problems

and Renault in 1982, the car was a rocket with 10 poles but managed only 4 wins

UK members - I recently cancelled Sky Sports, so what options are there for watching F1? Is it basically a live stream or Channel 4 highlights? Or is there another way to watch?

If I could pick up Sky F1 at a decent price, I'd probably come crawling back, but £18/month is a lot for one channel.

You’re a tad out of luck, could have got Nowtv streaming for £20ish a month a few weeks ago ( this is what my dad does, but he has money to burn) but it’s back to £35 a month now. Your options are hunting around places like Reddit for a stream, pay for an illegal stream (ask your local courier they usually know about them lol) or watch channel 4. after the first race I got so frustrated trying to find working streams combined with the crap racing I gave up and found something else to do, sorry that’s not much help….

I use a combination of an Android TV device and 2 mobile apps to get good quality streams. Doesn't always work 100% but Sky is pretty stable most times.

I've been using this stream for the last couple of races (supports as well) and it is usually quite stable, with very minimal pop ups when first connecting.

https://rx.freestreams-live1.tv/skysportsf1-stream/

I have been using my parents Foxtel Go (Australian version of Sky) account via a VPN, but Foxtel has been cracking down on it and, the streams are so unreliable, so my parents legit service has been crippled. That stream is much more reliable.

A comedy skit about F1 that is actually amusing. Pointing out the absurdities of F1.
