An F1 car on stone cold tyres would be out of control, especially with the low pressures they use.

Teams have a right to complain. Pirelli will have to build totally new tyres.

Ah that's fine, I was assuming the tyres would be different anyway. More referring to how this keeps getting delayed.

Again, every other series manages it. F1 isn't any different.

Am I missing something with this whole tractor saga (and I might be, because I'm watching Bathurst)? It was out under SC, so if Gasly was still flying past it then either SC rules need to change or communication needs to be better. You can't red flag a race every time a recovery vehicle goes out on track.

So after all the posturing around Spa last year, here we are again, one year later and the same shit show continues.

It's two separate incidents. The speeding happened after the incident zone. They can still also investigate why the truck was on track and prevent that too.

Weren't we complaining that rules were not enforced enough, leading to drivers being lax in safety? This is the FIA doing its job. There could've been workers elsewhere on track for maintenance or clean-up unrelated to that crash.

Yeah, tthey risk their live. They should then get a full time job and work for few hundred euros in Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and so on and try to survive the month. That is risking your life. Hypocrits, and the people who actually paid for it ,are in full cold, full wet, without any shelter and paid for it 300€+ and they see some mechanics waving.
That's why im never going to a live race.

I wonder the tractor driver was a bit too keen.... remember having random recovery vehicles ON THE TRACK during SuperGT races was a common sight not long ago (might still be the case)

The fia already said it was red and he shouldn’t be going so fast yet not admitting that despite that the tractor shouldn’t be there at that time.

Even at 50km/h it could cause serious damage to the car

they should run with all cars going only up to second gear to see which one survives

Same could happen in the dry. Due to track elevation, you would have no visibilty there if passing someone on the left. Only the first cars were really at risk, after that with flashing lights people slowed down. The same happens in the dry, forst drivers get no warning.

Cars bouncing back on track is a risk you should live with if you're willing to race on a track. I hate when examples like this are brought up as a justification for conditions after the fact.

The real problem is Sainz should've been on full wets, then he wouldn't lose it on what is essentially a straightaway with the proper tyres on.
