Extreme weather is not going to be the wake-up call, that's something we have always been able to engineer our way around when we have plenty of resources and energy to play with.

The wake-up call is going to be crop failures in the northern hemisphere, and the ensuing worldwide food shortages. We need stable climate for agriculture, there will be no technological way of weaseling our way out of this one.

EDIT: goddammit, I lost opportunity to turn the page on that discussion and come back to F1 shitposting and trash talk, rectification:

Anyway, that Hamilton dude ey? Boy, I hate him soo much! And what´s that about Spa being dropped for 2023? Apart from Domenicali, everybody would hate that!

This has to be a joke right?

Toto Wolff blames Red Bull and Ferrari for F1 being ‘less entertaining’ this season

Quote:
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says Red Bull and Ferrari’s dominance at the top of the leaderboard is making Formula 1 “less entertaining” this season.

No team other than Red Bull and Ferrari have finished inside the top two positions on a race weekend after the first 11 Grands Prix of the season, with Mercedes earning seven spots on the podium and McLaren’s Lando Norris just one.

Quote:
With Red Bull and Ferrari clearly ahead of the rest of the grid, Wolff emphasised that their dominance are not making for good racing, particularly in light of last week’s sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix.

But when your team was utterly dominating the last 8 years it was super entertaining right?

If this guy is serious he should seriously be checked into a mental hospital asap and given a lobotomy.

If he isn't trolling, then he does need another 500 hours on the shrink's sofa.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

They were cheering when Verstappen overtook Leclerc and then cheering again when Leclerc took the position back. Also cheering when Perez spun due to mechanical problem.

One might be able to isolate the crowd noise and perform a spectrogram analysis to compare different clips to see if there are identical pairs. That would prove they're using canned cheering.

Or just wait until they accidentally play FOM_cheering7.wav during the anthem and cut it short. :p

and for something like 15 days it never dropped below 36.
In 2003 it was much the same.

My man, Max

Verstappen fears for Spa: “I don’t want to end up driving only on street tracks”
“Of course I understand everyone wants to make money, but there is also a limit to that because it’s important to keep these really cool circuits on the calendar instead of just driving on street circuits, which I think F1 cars are not designed for anyway.”

Group 1: Tracks that should be on the calendar without question, because of their historic value:
- UK (Silverstone)
- Belgium (Spa)
- Monaco (yes Monaco, borefest but still Monaco)
- Italy (Monza)

Group 2: Tracks that should always be on the calendar because it's a world championship and they have almost as much historic value as those above:
- Australia (Melbourne)
- Brazil (Interlagos)
- Canada (Montreal)
- Japan (Suzuka)
- South Africa (Kyalami) (if we have to, F1 should pick a track because it's good, not because it's in Africa and F1 must go to Africa)

Group 3: countries or regios that should have or deserve to host a GP
- USA (1 GP per year, pick a track)
- Spain (not Barcelona please)
- France (not Paul Ricard please)
- Bahrain (as representative for the Middle East)

Group 4: tracks that should be on the calendar because they are reasonably good
- Austria (Red Bull Ring)
- Italy 2 (Imola)
- Italy 3 (Mugello)
- Azerbaijan (Baku) (yes, some races were good)
- Portugal (Portimao)
- Netherlands (Zandvoort)

Group 1, 2 and 3 should be on the calendar without question.
Group 4 could be alternated with at least 3 of them on the calendar, next season could be 3 others or the same but no track should be left out 3 seasons in a row.
That's 16 GPs, fill it up to max 20 with bland boring but bringing lots of money tracks of your choice like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Russia, China, an extra race in the USA, Mexico as long as Perez attracts the insanely big crowd, or new unexplored venues, but limited to 4 per year.

You forgot Germany. It definitely needs to be in Group 1.

Yeah, but Hockenheim or Nürburgring? You can't have both

I would add Nürburgring to Group 4. Hockenheim is not worth it.

Unless, and hear me out here, they demolish the new part and do a 1 to 1 recreation of the old one. :whistling:

I used to be 100% against this and much preferred the modern track as it has produced some great races, but actually I think the older track could work well with the current cars. Especially now that Ferrari have re-enabled grenade mode on their engines.

Old Hockenheim was never great for races, but as a spectacle it was brilliant. It was so different to every track on the calendar whose diversity would be more than welcome in 2022.

Also, support races. Present day F3 and F2 would not be short of amazing there

I like that since Germany isn't on the calendar, the traditional eulogy to the old Hockenheim is taking place here
