It's getting dark soon. If we had wet qualifying with lots of red flags, they'd be running out of light.
The timetable was better 20 years ago, when all sessions were held ~3-6 hours earlier.

Why did Sainz abort his lap? I've seen it before that drivers who cross the finish line with less than 5 seconds to go just abort their lap as if the session was over.
