He locked up and planted it out of the corner, had he been softer on the throttle he wouldn't have hit the wall and maybe still taking pole.

We'll probably see some safety cars tomorrow so anything can happen strategy wise. Even Perez being screwed to hold up Mercedes at any cost.

I'd say is all lost, confidence is quite low after this incident

Even more frustrating that he was 2 tenths up, he didn't need to be so close to the limit in the last corner

Congrats Lewis 2021 Driver's champion.

He overcame all the odds, adversity, and bested the evil Red Bull team through sheer talent. GOAT! :whistling:

I suspect this will be where the title is firmly lost.

That was all on Max. 0.2 in his pocket but tried 11/10's in that final corner and it bit him.

Damn, what an intense qualy this was! Holy shit.

They both were so commited. Scary stuff. Too bad Max still tried to make it without losing time, after the lock up. Better be 3rd and not damage the car... Hopefully he didn't damage the gearbox as well :-/

You forget my prediction of Bottas colliding with Hamilton. "Whoopsie" :p

one good thing we can take from this is that's nice to see a track that doesn't forgive mistakes

How sad it must be to have this thrilling, great rivalry spoiled when watching from a place of cynisism and irrational dislike of one or the other drivers involved. :)

I confess is quite frustrating

everyone failed blatantly on their job to stop Mercedes and their empire of evil

Watching Q3 was incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a track fully reveal just how goddamn fast these cars are. It was thrilling in the best and worst ways, lol.

Man, that was a stonking ass lap by Verstappen until the shunt.

In hindsight, he'd have been better off trying to salvage P2 after the lockup. As we saw in today's F2 sprint race, the inside line into T1 gives you the opportunity to muscle the pole sitter out wide and once you're on the run-off you're losing a couple of positions trying to get back on track.

Disappointed for Max. He has to clear Bottas at the start tomorrow. Despite the result, that was a fantastic session to watch.

judging by what we're seeing on F2, there'l be a plethora of penalties regarding overtakes on turns 1-2

Only watched it now, but that was one of the best qualifying sessions in years.

But drivers have been punished for impeding other cars for less. Like many times before this year: if one driver does it, they can single him out and give him a penalty. If all drivers do it, they just let it happen because meh, too much work.
