Not a day goes by without someone questioning Kimi's motivation.

Quite amazing how someone with no motivation has participated in over 340 grand prix weekends during three different decades.

Kimi is a role model for everyone aspiring to have a fulfilling professional career:

- Have fun doing what you love
- Try new experiences if you feel like it, regardless of how much of a "downgrade" it is perceived to be by others
- Never give a fuck about what other people think of your choices
- Be honest to yourself, and to others about your true life priorities

Was this 100% Mercedes' decision, or were they pressured into it by the F1 world? (assuming they do announce Russell to replace Bottas)

For me what I see as a motivation drop from Kimi is something natural to any champion that has nothing to prove anymore.

Once you ran risks for victories and championships, it's unlikely you'll run the same risks for a 14th position because it makes no difference on your career.

ah yeah I remember 2008-09. Once Kimi had won the championship and the money was coming in he didn't even bothered too much. Yet he got some wins here and there

You think Lewis will play the race card if Mercedes starts putting more time and effort into "the white guy" than him?

Never know what the woke generation will do these days.

So, who will they announce next? Probably Russell to Mercedes, but then? A shock for the 2nd Alfa seat? Not Albon but a De Vries or a Vandoorne to Williams? Haas being taken over by Andretti with support of McLaren, introducing O'Ward and the return of Magnussen?

Yeah, the only question is how safe is Giovinazzi at Alfa? Just because he's Italian it doesn't mean that would prevent Albon or de Vries replacing him. I assume Mazepin's father has enough money to fund his son's career at Haas for one more season at least?

Giovinazzi has been Mr. Anonymous this season. I'd be fine with de Vries taking the vacant Williams seat.

I think it's very likely an all new line-up at Alfa. Gio really hasn't done enough.

Daddy Mazepin's rich enough to buy his son a team so he can call himself an F1 driver for as long as he wants, not just another year at Haas.

I can't see an Alfa Romeo line-up without a Ferrari academy driver. And having a Red Bull or Mercedes backed driver (Albon/De Vries) in the second seat seems highly unlikely. My outside guess (and hope) is that it'll be Ilott partnering Bottas. With Albon and De Vries in a shootout for the vacant Williams seat.

I really hope that Mercedes doesn't sabotage Russell with dumb team orders or cripple his title chances

Given Russell will be the first white teammate he's ever had... maybe?

Alonso, Kovalainen, Button, Rosberg and Bottas are all famously not white and were definitely all subservient to him, so this would be a new experience I guess

Well he does have a habit of turning on his team whenever things aren't going perfect for him, just look at his comments during the Rosberg fight

I really really hope Ferrari can take some involvement in Haas, to a point when Maz's money isn't needed.

They could just let Mercedes or Red Bull pay good money to put de Vries or Albon in the Alfa, and Ferrari should place Gio with Mick at Haas. And build up from there.

With where his driving and headspace is at the moment it wouldn't surprise me in the least if McLaren off load Ricciardo to Alfa and bring in O'Ward :whistling:

O'Ward wins indy 500 and arrives in F1 Montoya style

Remember O'Ward secured a drive in the post-season tests at Abu Dhabi.

That test could either jump start his F1 hopes, or maybe bury them forever.
