For me it looked like Lewis was backing out of the overtake but his trajectory wasn't optimal at all and wheels collided. A time penalty for Ham means nothing for this race, even if it is 20 seconds.

Racing incident, but it's all due to different setups. Max has such a bigger speed through corners, Lewis has more top speed. Lewis had space, Max left it, and he would easily do the corner with such bigger speed. 60/40 on Lewis i'd say

You fanboys think that a 7 time champ would deliberately crash into someone?

When is it not?

I can forsee lots of little bits of Mercedes being picked out of the tyres at Eau Rouge in a few weeks.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

nope, but he could had waited a bit more for a move. He knows that Max is rough on wheel to wheel. Maybe he tried to teach him a lesson about proper racecraft

Looks like a very clumsy racing incident, especially with Lewis accusing Max of taking 'his line' - he was lacking in situational awareness if he thought he was anywhere near the normal line.

I think Max had him rattled with the weaving, which really needs to stop now.

Sky bending over backwards not to mention the contact was to Max's rear wheel. Useless fanboys.

This has been coming all season. Thought it was going to happen at Brooklands!

Lewis did get alongside, but couldn't hold the line. Looked like Max left enough space. A bit of a first lap deal, but the blame is on Lewis.

This was Senna on Prost at Suzuka 1989 move. They were always going to crash. This is on Lewis. He was behind, he was not on the racing line, he took Max out.

Thank goodness that Red Bull Honda didn't dug in the gravel, car would have ended in the grandstands.

I'm not sure Lewis has the panic (Schumacher) or the red mist (Senna) required for that, but people also didn't think that of the other two...

Still think max should blame himself for this. Doesn’t matter if Lewis is at fault. The penalty for this will not compensate his DNF. You don’t win the race in the first lap

It's also worth pointing out that you don't pull moves like that into Copse in an F1 car unless you're well alongside...

It was a matter of time until this happened.

I think both drivers were tough right there and not willing to back it off. Lewis had how to avoid it but he was by no means reckless.

but again any penalty now is worthless, Lewis will still grab some points while Max will not

I'd say they must force him to race soft tires for the entire race
