No surprise there. He's a perfect security blanket for Hamilton making life comfortable for him and does whatever he's told. Never going to be a threat for the drivers championship and consistent enough to bring in a decent haul of points for the constructors.

Boring, consistent, too careful and not taking any risks. Unlike Rosberg where he seemed to get Hamilton sometimes out of shape and have a fir bit of fight, Bottas is just a great no.2 driver and nothing more. But with a good sweet paycheck he is obviously forgetting about the title. Boring but understandable

That's all they need. No threats to either title cos the car is that dominant, they can just dump an also ran in the second car and get a 1-2 in the driver championship.

that's funny because Mercedes is going the boring way since no other team is making the opposition

instead they could hire a top level not fearing losing the championship, creating a new story and being regarded as the best of the best. But they opted just to be one of the best

or put Russell to learn from Hamilton so they can keep this form once Lewis gets bored after becoming the goat

As a fan I hate it. But if I were Toto and took a different decision, my sanity would need to be checked.

the point is they can afford to risk a bit more and provide a good show, but they just want to crush the opposition

well that unless FIA plays a gimmick in the rule change to fuck Mercedes

With ELMS switching their race from Barcelona, surely there won't be a Spanish GP now.

Apparantly poor Leclerc is being labeled as a racist because he doesn't kneel.

The power of the blessed one reaches far on the internet.

I'd rather just not be there and remain apolitical. Of course that'd brand me as ultra-racist, but rather keep a consistent image that flip-flopping.

There's no such thing as a neutral stance on racism

Exactly, silence is complicity. Bad things happen when people stay silent. It's basically turning a blind eye to a problem.

It's something Hamilton's had to deal with since he was a young boy in karts.

Of course there's no such thing as being neutral. However, I can understand people not needing to show support via one action.

If you kneel but don't donate to the cause or don't defend it when it happens around you, is it better than not kneeling but donating behind the scenes and taking action in person? A single, publicly scrutizined action doesn't actually mean you support the cause. Who knows, maybe someone that kneels (be it in F1 or football or wtv) doesn't actually believe in BLM but does it to avoid public outrage.

One thing that fucking sucks of 21st century activism is how making a stand on a relevant cause has became commoditized.

Sometimes it feels like people say things because they are expected too and if they don't say it they are going to be cancelled. It's almost like 13 year olds saying 'If you don't wear Billabong you're not cool enough for us'. I wouldn't be surprised to find out one of the kneeling drivers is more racist than one the non-kneeling drivers.

This reminds the story of a guy here in Brazil who appeared on several Instagram/Facebook pages with content on feminism and then people found out he had affairs with 11 women at the same time.

I mean, it's so easy to be hypocritical. It's even expected in some cases like this of Leclerc.

Billabong is cool again? Lol.

Side note, I live in Japan and they keep brands alive here that have long died out in the West. I walked past an entire Stussy store the other day. AN ENTIRE STUSSY store. When you rock out to Stussy....that's when you know you are uber cool.

I live in Fremont, California (SF bay area) and we have roughly 250,000 residents, not a small town by any means. A couple months ago a BLM protest happened in the city and they marched past the police station and city hall. Our fucktard of a mayor came out to speak and of course was asked to kneel to show support for the protesters. She declined with the bullshit excuse of "I can't kneel because I'm christian and won't kneel before anyone but god". She a political figure in a major city, so it doesn't take a genius to figure out that her social media profiles were combed through and pictures of her kneeling, in a non-religious setting, were easily found. One was as basic as her kneeling down in the front row of a group of friends for a picture outside of a coffee shop. There was a bunch of backlash and calls for her to resign for making up such blatantly obvious lies to the town. You guys will never guess what magically happened the next weekend!! Yup, with photographers "conveniently" around, she had pictures taken of herself kneeling while talking about racism to a group of her supporters she had quickly gathered together for an event. I love it when religious people act like they have the strongest faith ever and use it to hide behind so many things, but the second they might lose their power, they have no problem ditching their religion to pander to others.

What the fuck does it matter. He is out there proclaiming that he supports ending racism. It does not matter one fucking iota if he knees or not. It is now coming down to "every one is special and has a say....what's that, you are not doing it the way I want it????? YOU WILL CONFORM YOU....(insert what ever your choice of words is...racist, fascist, misogynist or whatever).

The thing is. If he does support the fight, and not kneel, he is demonized from the BLM force. Is that equality and human rights everybody is talking about? No.
I'm sure like 90% of the kneeling is done because players and people don't want to stand out and not kneel because of the journalists and other activists demonizing them
