Not sure how that's fair as it'd be pretty instant between Bottas flying off immediately in front of him and the yellow coming out as he was in that sector

But the stewards and marshals have all the required telemetry in this case so I guess it'll be pretty open and shut

Though considering how they've let multiple drivers off with it in the past (remember Mika in ...98 was it? Holding his hand up to acknowledge the flag white still keeping it foot to the floor flat out) it'd be suspiciously harsh if they clamp down on Lewis for this.

I think at worst they'll only delete his 2nd lap time and he keeps 2nd spot anyways.

Häkkinen raised his hand so it was back in the day considered as noticing the danger even though he didn't slow at all. Rules were changed afterwards.

Yea except that I believe his lap from the first run is also under investigation by the stewards for leaving the track at turn 10.

Actually it was more like 10-11 seconds after the yellow flags came out, that Hamilton completed sector two. He definitely had ample time to react to the yellow flags coming out and adjust his speed accordingly, not to mention clearly seeing Bottas trudging through the gravel before he crossed the timing beam (while setting a personal best), but I guess it'll come down to the telemetry to see whether he made any attempt to slow down at all.

TBF IDC if they find bullshit ways to send both Mercedes to the back, the race probably needs it.

Interesting to see just how much slower all the Ferrari powered cars were today compared to 2019 Austria qualifying. What a massive regression around such a short track. Really makes you wonder about that dodgy engine they were running last year...

Yea Mattia keep telling everyone the drop off is due to your aerodynamics package. 2020 car is 0.5 second down on the 2019 car before even the second braking point of the lap. Gee I wonder how the aerodynamics could be costing them so much down the straights...

Meanwhile, in tweets copied and pasted from 2010 with the names changed:

[tweet]https://twitter.com/Vetteleclerc/status/1279347621577007104[/tweet]

"Max broke his front wing so we're taking yours so he can have the 1 that's left because he's our favourite. But in 6 races time we'll fire you for not being as fast as him. Good luck on your own, bye!"

They certainly wanted a car with more aero downforce because they clearly lacked that last year. Perhaps they overdid it and now have drag AND a diminished engine.

Even if they were cheating last year, to lose a second that is almost entirely attributed to the engine performance? I didn't think you can go backwards like that by accident.

Yeah the secret "deal" they got that no body can see what the investigation was or what the analysis was. Basically I think Ferrari pulled the whole "WE ARE FERRARI THERFORE WE ARE F1!!!!" probably threatened to quit and Liberty/FIA caved. That is the only explanation for it.

Or Jean Todt's mafia mates were supplying them parts.........

He's always like that, I suggest using the ignore function. It's quite useful.

You'll see him in full spasm later today when Lewis will have won by 20 secs and he'll still downplay it.

It's going to rain...on Monday.

But then there's a good chance that next weekend is rainy for real.

Leclerc and Verstappen said on Twitter that they won't be kneeling. People are sniping at them, saying their reputation will be forever tarnished, that they are "fucking weak", "if you're not willing to perform a formal gesture against racism because it could be controversial, then why should I expect you to take real action against racism", etc etc.

It's not Austria the knee protest is about, isn't it? So I don't see the issue at not kneeling during Austria's anthem. Austria. Not the USA. We are in Austria. Has Austria widespread issues of police brutality and racism? Is this really such a big deal to not kneel?

I am surely missing something, and I do really get the point of Kaepernick's actions. But people are really quick to judgement here.
