In result of a global pandemic that has turned the motorsport industry upside down, the egos have been set aside.
While other tracks have hosted open wheel + stock car doubleheaders over the past decades, this is the first time that both of the crown jewel championships of American Open Wheel racing and American Stock Car racing have came together.

ImageImageImage
For the first time in North American racing history: the NTT IndyCar Series and NASCAR Cup Series will come together to host a doubleheader race weekend at the same venue - that being the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The venue - hallowed ground for race fans all around the world marks a few firsts, such as it being the first major racing event under the stewardship of Roger Penske, and where race fans would not be permitted to watch in the grandstands due to the coronavirus.

Saturday will feature the NTT IndyCar Series & the NASCAR XFINITY Series running a doubleheader on the infield road course at IMS. Sunday will feature the annual Brickyard 400 for the NASCAR Cup Series in it's traditional format on the 2.5 mile oval.

Other racing events are still a-go in the state of Indiana, including those running with limited spectators. Those include: IRP (ARCA + Sprint Cars on Friday), Terre Haute (USAC Sprint Cars - Wednesday night), Putnamville (USAC Sprint Cars - Friday & Saturday) & Kokomo (Weekly show - Friday)

Race Information (IndyCar):
Track Type & Length: 2.439 mile infield road course

Track Record (Qualifying): Will Power - 2017 - 1:07.7044

Race Information (NASCAR Cup):

Turns: 4
Race Distance: 160 laps (Stages: 50, 50, 60) / 400 miles
Track Record (Qualifying): Kevin Harvick - 2014 - 188.470 mph

Race Information (NASCAR XFINITY):
Track Type & Length: 2.439 mile infield road course

So, any chances of us having a different winner other than Penske?

Yes, you can have Dixon instead.

The entry list shows that once again Carlin will be a one-car effort, although there is another extra car courtesy of RLLR who have expanded their parternship with Citrone and Spencer Pigot.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

How about JJ? Wasn't he planning to run here? I don't see his name on the entry list.

Also, any other special entry? Or just regulars?

Nope. Johnson was going to do a test back in April at Barber I believe to prepare for an IndyCar start this season, but because of COVID canceling that, this will be his first IndyCar test.

JJ testing on the 8th with Ganassi on the road course

3 one-offs for this week: Hinch with Andretti, Pigot in the Citrone/Buhl/Rahal car, and Karam with Dreyer & Reinbold

was to be 4 or 5 with Scotty McLaughlin / Penske but COVID killed that for this year w/ travel restrictions

I like that seemingly more NASCAR guys are interested in IndyCar these days than vice versa.

Good to see a healthy number of cars. Feels like a long time since we last saw F1 and Indycar on the same weekend.

Some racing series give you the same old parade at the front of the pack.

Some give you Max Chilton and Pato O'Ward.
