Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Sigh......Even when trying to do something good, F1 just ends up exasperating its own problems.

How F1's new sliding scale aero testing rules work – and what impact they will have on racing
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.how-f1s-new-sliding-scale-aero-testing-rules-work-and-what-impact-they-will.pn0sG8N4A0cjbNRbdYx8a.html

The reason why I say that is because of the last line.

Quote:
Ultimately though, having extra time won't make you faster - it's how you use it...

A massive reason why Mercedes is as good as they are (yes shit tons of money helps) is quite simply because they have the best TEAM with the RIGHT people in the right places doing the right things. Williams and Hass on the other hand are complete shambles and no amount of extra runs will make them fight at the front.

It is team management and direction that determines how good the team is. Look at McLaren last year finally getting their shit together through management, Williams just bumbling and fumbling along, Renault with their head up their own arse, Hass not knowing what they are doing and Ferrari just imploding.

That's pretty dumb. It's basically like a subtler version of success ballast. Also find it ironic that they're cutting wind tunnel hours to save costs, then having the poorest teams doing the most wind tunnel running...

Well, I think it's more about limiting the big teams, rather than forcing the smaller teams to run more wind tunnel hours.

well they can apply other rules, cars that qualify on top 5 must start the race without front spoiler

then it'll be that comic situation on Q3 with cars braking at the final turn to make the slowest possible time to not make into top 5

I read it as sliding aero and was looking forward to fighter-jet style aero that maybe slides upwards for more downforce in corners and slides down to reduce drag in a straight line (kinda like a full car DRS)

Now I'm disappointing.

Sure, but the end result is still that the smaller teams are spending more money than the bigger teams. Won't matter but still seems kinda backwards

I can see Ferrari getting back to their 92-93 dark times with these regulations. I have big questions on how they can keep their results on a Force India like budget.

They'll just let Ferrari spend more, then 2 years later investigate them, then quietly come to an agreement to not publicise how badly they were cheating.

As is Tradition

Renault are staying in the sport for now, although Williams might not be.

I remember seeing someone say that Rokit was dodgy. I wonder if this is pointing toward that statement being true?

It seems to be a bunch of companies that sell overpriced products that aren't really sold anywhere relevant and their main backers don't have clean financial records, to say the least.

So yeah, a more discrete Rich Energy.
