But who knows, someone else might go bankrupt before 2021 allowing Campos to come in dirt cheap.

Still waiting on that Arab Mclaren B-team based in Abu Dhabi though :whistling:

I'm still waiting on that McLaren B team owned by Direxiv with Jean Alesi as team principal

I'm still waiting on that McLaren B team owned by Prodrive with David Richards as team principal.

I went on a tour of the Prodrive factory a few years ago and apparently Richards still holds a massive grudge with Bernie over that

why Bernie didn't allowed Prodrive to run their own operation?

If I remember correctly, it was down to Prodrive's initial idea to be McLaren B-team (buying chassis and parts) with Aston Martin sponsorship (no engines) and Bernie didn't like that idea at all. This was during the time when they still had tobacco money and V10s and Bernie's imperium was booming so he played his game as he wanted.

Few years after Prodrive was blocked their entry, in came Scuderia Toro Rosso and Sauber was Ferrari's B-team, never mind Aston Martin sponsorship on one particular team. Or Haas.

Richards' initial idea was to start with support from current team, bring in Aston Martin as a sponsor first and later with their own engines. They had already spend millions on the project and then got kicked in the balls from behind. Later when someone else came up with similar idea it was cool. It's easy to see why Richards is sour about it.

so his idea was quite at the wrong time. Which was a pity, because that entry was designed to put Lewis Hamilton first in a B team to get more experience without much pressure to drive for a title contender. Turns out he wasn't pressured at all and the history was quite different

It wasn't Bernie who stopped McLaren and Prodrive, it was Frank Williams. Frank didn't like the fact that a team could come in, use non-proprietary technology, beat his team while taking away a large(r) portion of the prize money pot from them.

Fuck Frank Williams.

For all the greatness his team achieved, he doesn't seem like a very nice/pleasant person.

so should he had done like Eddie Jordan, to sell everything and retire as a realized F1 owner or keep struggling until he passes away and see his sons selling it all to shady business and therefore killing the whole history of the team (which probably would had happened if he had sold the operation for BMW before they went for Sauber)

Where's the fun being in Miami, if the track is not next to the ocean?

A race in Miami is so 80s/90s, when Miami was actually a cool and upcoming place. Now? Uh... :whistling:

Why don't they race in Denver? That is Liberty's hometown anyway and there are many useable roads for street circuits, and plenty of land ripe for development of a permanent circuit.

plus the high altitude makes it problematic to aerodynamics and turbos

They should go to Detroit! Motor City! Suddenly the favelas of Interlagos don't look that bad anymore.

"The decision to ban tyre blankets from Formula 1 when the new tyre sizes are introduced in 2021 has been reversed, but it is still planned for them to be phased out."

Disappointing. One of my favorite parts of an IndyCar race is when you have guys coming out of the pits on cold tires trying to fight off a car still on hot tires. It always results in lots of aggressive driving and sliding around for a lap or so. Hopefully they do actually eventually blank the tire blankets instead of just gradually ignoring it until nobody remembers they even planned on doing it.
