Track layout change for Long Beach could happen much sooner than expected, as the LA Angels are looking at moving to Long Beach - with the possible stadium built on the current final sector of the track & paddock area

Just have the last two corners inside the stadium, like in Mexico.

lol, that won't be happening. LBGP is right in the middle of the first month of the MLB season anyway.

So what? Have them pitch when no car is coming. Mostly they just stand around waiting anyway. Give them marshal flags then they might actually be useful.

home runs would bring caution as they litter the track with balls

Local media in Argentina is reporting that there will be a meeting between Indycar brass (as well as Ricardo Juncos) and local representatives to discuss the possibility of a race at the new circuit San Juan Villicum.

-------------

David Norris (of the F1\Motorsport Broadcasting blog) is reporting that BT have indeed lost the rights to Indycar in the UK. Could be that Comcast would prefer it to be on a platform owned by them (which in the UK would mean Sky), or maybe a bigger player made a better pitch.

Or more likely no-one made a pitch as they probably asked for actual money this time

Willing to bet it's going to be for free on Indycar's youtube, region blocked for US viewers of course

Probably still more viewers that way than behind a paywall where you'd get a few thousand at most.

I like this very much.
Obviously free TV would be better for exposure but without a german driver that wont happen.

Seems Indycar is going to end up on Sky Sports F1, Possibly including coverage of qualifying.

Don't worry, Beeesweet is still going to (try to) stream.

NASCAR seemingly has decided to finally do something about the streams, making it harder than ever to find one....I don't expect it to be any easier for Indycar.

We'll see...

If there is no Besweet anymore Ill have to subscribe to DAZN Germany. For a 7 month season itll be 70 Euro. Not too bad actually.

There'll always be streams. Seems Sky don't try too hard to shut down everyone broadcasting their channels (or if they do try, it doesn't do much), so depending on exactly how they cover the races, it may be a suitable option.

---------------

Changes to the qualifying format; Saturday now only sets positions 10-30, with the top 9 keeping their shootout on Sunday and the bottom 6\7\8 also getting a shootout for the back row.

https://racer.com/2019/02/28/bumping-mo ... ng-revamp/

This should help the smaller teams in attracting sponsors, as they will be guaranteed network TV time on the Sunday even if they don't ultimately qualify.

---------------

Karam & DRR are back together with WIX.

I get why they changed it as it's not as if bump day has been that big a thing in recent years with them just about getting 33 cars entered but when there's going to be bumping I think they should go back to something more like the traditional format with Saturday been pole day & Sunday bump day.

I'd also get rid of the top 9 shootout as TBH I don't think it's really ever added anything. When there's more than 33 cars the tension of those on the outside trying to bump there way in as we get down to the end will always be far more exciting than watching the top 9 go out & do another run just because they have to.

I'd actually like to see them just go back to a more traditional format, Get rid of the shootout & limit how many go's they get with each car. Allowing them to have as many go's as they want & withdraw the time but not the car has taken away a lot of the tension & drama you used to get during qualifying & I just don't think the changes over the past decade or so have been as good.
