First test without Alonso in years and McLaren didn't had failures, what an improvement

Apart from the moment when Sainz stopped at the end of the pit lane earlier in the afternoon. The spirit of Alonso lives on at McLaren as it looks like Sainz is wearing Fernando’s helmet.

The Ferrari orange isn’t good, hopefully they do what Jordan did in 1996 and realize a matte paint job doesn’t work and fix it.

The Haas livery also looks poor on camera. The gold appears brown and the Rich logo positioning on the fin makes the sponsor read as Richy.

According to "insiders" Williams are going to be 2 seconds a lap slower than LAST YEAR'S CAR :8:

WTF

But then, the season is already over and Sebastien Vettel is already 2019 WDC based on day 1 of testing.
Testing is nothing but wild mass guessing made substantial, if you think something is happened, therefore it is happening, facts be damned :D

Can we agree right now that for this year every time Paul says "Congrats Sebastian Vettel winner etc etc" and Vettel doesn't win, he is restricted to only posting in the personal fitness thread for a week?

So was watching the cars leaving the pits live on F1's instagram just now, saw a McLaren, Toro Rosso then Alfa leave... then you see the Red flag get thrown and the McLaren and Alfa return... no Toro Rosso, I suspect an oopsy for it

Ricciardo had a DRS failure, the wing element just flew off at the end of the pit straight

The Alfa Romeo is looking strong.

Mercedes isn't. Last year they were also not that great in testing, everyone thought they were hiding their true pace but they really struggled in the first races of the season. Later on the good old domination was back again, but still I am hopeful of a non-dominant start again.

Are the cars checked against technical regulations for these test sessions? I assume all safety equipment would have to be, but otherwise what prevents someone to come with illegal elements for commercial reasons (visibility) or to mess with competitors and/or send them in a wrong direction?

wasn't Rosberg that lost a rear wing in the straight in Bahrain prior to the 2014 season? He said he barely missed a big hit

Heard this too. But I think it's extremely unlikely.

Rio is absolutely broke and the guys in the city council who have this wish but are totally clueless.
