Remember the stupidity when they were first able to cut the dogleg?

As much as I hate NASCAR's leadership, I think the general idea here (which was done by the track officials, by the way) was to get the main grandstands out of the sun (the burning, oppressive desert sun, remember). So moving the start finish line to be nearer the bulk of the fans made sense. Honestly, given the configuration of that backstretch, they probably did the best they could. Because putting the line at or after the dogleg could have made for some tremendously stupid finishes.

I think the one potential improvement is that by the time the cars come back around to the dogleg at full speed after starts and restarts, they'll at least be slightly more spread out than they have been from the 2012-March 2018 era when they approached the dogleg at speed after only going through T1 & T2.

I mean, none of this really matters that much, because everything is terrible and we live in hellworld now, but it's still something new and different to observe I guess.

makes sense. I thought they were looking forward a mini talladega. they force overtime just to see a finish with drivers bumping each other out to win

The should make a track like they have in the Cars movies where all the seats are just places to park a car.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I know it wouldn't be a Most Popular Driver award without an Earnhardt in the mix, but this is just silly.

lmao he's not even eligible to win points in Cup.

Also, has he ever got anything to bring to a team, other than his lastname?

Voting him for most popular driver is like jacking off to a Sears catalog: a desperate and sad attempt to make something out of nothing.

I’d LOL pretty heavily if he actually won the award. Kind of like that one time Narain Karthikeyan of all people was the truck series MPD. It’s like... how?
