Aside from CART, I honestly cannot think of a single major professional sport, not just motorsports, that has gone into a visibly cataclysmic downward spiral like NASCAR has.

Tony's right - teams don't care how they win, or how exciting it is to watch, they just want to win as often as possible and make as much money as possible.

But tell me again how NASCAR is doing alright.

That was necessary. Just a shame they're gonna be piddling around with restrictor plates and parachutes everywhere next year.

That's cool that they're going back the old layout at Sonoma next year. The race is going to be 11 laps longer than it was when they ran the layout before. The was is going to be 85 laps next year compared to the 74 laps it was when they ran it in the last.

Hailie Deegan won the K&N Pro West race at Meridian Idaho yesterday night with a last-lap bump & run.

First woman - or like a 17 yo girl - to win in any NASCAR sanctioned series since Shawna Robinson in Goody's Dash Series in 1989.

Last lap from ca. 2:30 mark

Great to see Sonoma reverting to the correct layout once again. Should be a fun race :D

Also, some quick mental calculations has it as a potential fuel mileage race. That is of course, without the stages.

It’s official. NASCAR announced the rules for next year.

Smaller Tapered spacer, among some aero crap, for 17 races. Power to go down to about 550.

Shorter races only with the same tapered spacer, and the restrictor plate races to remain as they were.

We all know it only helps one type of people: those who have insomnia.

Hopefully, the backlash will make NASCAR change their oh ha ha who am I kidding

Motorsport.com is reporting RP races will replace plates with the tapered spacer after the Daytona 500.

Got my hopes up that the races were going to be shorter.

But no restrictor plates at Talladega, what could possibly go wrong?

As they are cutting a lot of power out of the engine, the plate is no longer needed to limit speed.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Yeah, when I first read "no plates at the plate tracks next season!" I was intrigued until I realized that nascar is trying to sell us on the idea that a tapered spacer and a restrictor plate are nothing alike despite them essentially being the same as far as the result on a car's performance is concerned.

Pretty sure Elliott's record lap winning car was only about 600hp.

Also why are they so fixated on 'close pack of cars=close racing'?

You know, if they ran short tracks, the field would look a lot closer.

Feeling like a broken record now, so i'll stop.
