Albert Fabrega (Spanish F1 commentator) now says McLaren is trying to make that seat for Ocon fit but they might only be ready for Singapore and Ocon might be forced to sit out the Italian GP (with Stroll moving to FI next weekend already).

I think he'd rather wait for the seat in a McLaren to be modified than drive that piece of shit (yes I know ironic considering the McLaren isn't much better, but it's better).

Some crazy rumours that Perez has actually signed with Haas. He says he has signed a contract but won't reveal with whom yet.

If he stays with Force India why all the mystery? Such PR stunt usually indicates a switch or...?

Perez has been linked with Haas for a while now. He recently said he expected to sign a new contract with Force India, but then again Ricciardo said the same about Red Bull.

If there's one driver in the grid that needs to go, and go now, it's Grosjean.

But it's funny how Lawrence Stroll throwing money around makes all the midfield teams go insane and go for driver swapping. It's bold move from Stroll, but it works. He buys a team and he gets his son driving in a good car. And everyone plays along.

Some more movement according to Rencken;

https://www.racefans.net/2018/08/25/str ... -ericsson/

Vandoorne will replace Ericsson (assuming McLaren can chisel a hole in the car big enough for Ocon to sit in).

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Apparently the cameras picked up Vettel and Ocon discussing next year, and Ocon confirmed that his 2019 seat will be taken by 'the guy that paid for it'. I know it's no secret, but i guess it's a bit more official.

This could get interesting. And I think they have a fair point. If Racing Point is a new team but gets price money right away, Haas should be given the same treatment.

But Force India is only a new team because it changed owners. The car is the same, the staff is the same, only the owner has changed. If it is a new team, shouldn't it design its own chassis?

Bit childish of Haas.

Not childish in the slightest, Racing Point is a new team for all intent and purposes, otherwise it would be called just Force India Mercedes, the reason is it called Racing Point Force India Mercedes is because it's new, they didn't buy the entry to F1 just the teams assets and had to lodge a new entry.

Stroll should be treated just like Hass was when they first arrived.

Haas' point is valid. It demonstrate the issues around governance F1 has.

On one hand Haas decided to enter knowing no prize money was on offer (not that they had any other choice) thanks to Bernie's last and current revenue distribution agreement. Yet on the other hand Haas have been successful in F1 thanks to a legal technical arrangement with Ferrari whereby they are effectively using a large amount of Ferrari equipment, including almost carbon copies of Ferrari chassis since they entered, despite customer cars being illegal per FIA regulations.

Vandoorne will replace Ericsson (assuming McLaren can chisel a hole in the car big enough for Ocon to sit in).

That might be outdated now since Polish media report Giovinazzi will join Sauber instead. Ferrari should announce Raikkonen extension/Leclerc to Haas/Giovinazzi in the week after Monza.

Maybe we have a bidding war between Vandoorne and Ericsson? Because no one is outbidding Ferrari/Giovinazzi combo.

RIP Stoffel's career, doomed from the beginning.

Time for some WEC or something.

I said it a few pages back already but he didnt exactly set the world on fire either. great drivers will always be able to show their brilliance even in average or below-average cars.

I'm not saying he is a bad driver but probably one those that just dont cut it in Formula 1.

People are judging Vandoorne based on a belief or perception that McLaren are still a top team. And with Alonso as his team mate (who’s only had a few good results) Vandoorne should be regularly beating or at least very close to him.

McLaren are a shambles though, the car is one of the worst on the grid and Alonso has had some good results due to a combination or luck (right place right time) as well as being one of the most talented and experienced drivers on the grid / knows how to deal with a bad car. Vandoorne is still inexperienced and really isn't that far off Alonso. Even Fernando has said so.

The reality is that people should be viewing Vandoorne's performances like Bianchi or Wehrlein in the Manor. In which case Vandoorne, like Alonso, dragged a tail end car to a few giant killing performances.

I think the McLaren is probably tied with Williams for the shittest car on the grid. I've watched F1 for a long time now and can't recall a time where two of the grandees were the worst on the grid. Possibly in the late 80s/early 90s with Brabham and Lotus.
