Fencing is fine, it's the poles that do the damage. They need to find a way to get the poles further behind the fence, so the fence can catch the car before it reaches a pole

They probably found a neckbone from Richard Petty lodged in there and assumed there was a body somewhere near.

I say they go full South American safety standards and let the cars plow into a lake.

Saw that too, maybe someone fell off the fence.

How about this, if the cars are so safe, why don't they just make the wall out of cars?

The fencing itself still acts like a cheese-grater though

The primary objective of the fencing is not to protect the drivers. It is to protect the fans.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Bourdais making sure that his helmet has been chucked into the lake, giving him the excuse he needs not to race.

Fence is obviously compromised. I knew this would happen.

Fence looks like from some zombie-survival games when you just put anything on the wall to survive

Too expensive, reflections, questions over what happens if it shatters etc. Indycar looked into it a few years ago and decided fencing was more efficient.

Really? What was the idea then? Like plexiglass in indoor ice hockey arenas? Sounds like a non-starter when it can barely stop humans.
