Hopefully the Gen 7 body does something better with the greenhouses, because these sedans look so goofy as coupes. We're almost into funny car territory with proportions.

Speaking of Funny Cars. I was watching the live stream of the unveil and one of the Ford Execs said that they are going to be unveiling a new Funny Car body later this year, as well as a new Mustang for the Australian V8 Super Cars.

It's a Fusion with Mustang nose decals. What a waste of hype.

I just wonder why we don't see more complaining about how a Mustang has the same greenhouse as a Camry, it's all spec parts anyway.

Stock Car Racing as a whole would be alot better I think if they use the same method that Aussie Supercars use for their bodies (if it's front engined, has a back seat & fits on the chassis, let it rip), or of course they could just use the TA2 body style with spoilers instead of wings (aka the Fury Model R). Too bad the chassis in Cup / Xfinity are too big to use TA2 bodies without upscaling.

While I dislike some of the decisions & changes that Brian has produced for stock car racing in recent times. I do hope he does seek help for his addictions. I've never dealt with addictions or consumed things that would make you addicted because I've seen how bad alcoholic / drug / smoking addictions can take a toll on someones live. One of my uncle's on my dad's side has been a severe alcoholic for decades now, and it's really messed him up bad. Last I heard apparently he's back drinking heavily, homeless & living in the woods in a tent by the railroad tracks.

I understand the complaints about the sameness of the "different" cars but if they all truly had their own shape, the performance imbalances would surely be massive.

Yea, this is an issue mainly for NASCAR as it's the only series in the world where 90% of the schedule is made of very high speed, aero-sensitive tracks. Look at any other silhouette series and there's a LOT more difference between the car bodies.

Kurt and Monster are off to Ganassi next year, and McMurray looks to be on the out.

All this nonsense with the bodies started WAY back with the common template. For all of NASCAR's existence one make had the up on another. Ford's were faster, Chevy bitched and got another 1/8 spoiler and 1/16 valence. Then the Pontiac was faster and Ford screamed and the Pontiac's lost 1/32 spoiler and the Fords got 1/16. And so on and so on. NASCAR was constantly trying balance them but the cars looked like the cars they were supposed to be. Then they went to the common centerline template and that has spiraled into what we have today.

Get rid of the common templates and you can have a Mustang that looks like a Mustang, Camaro that looks like a Camaro, etc.

Just put Trans-Am on the ovals and call it NASCAR. Problem solved.

Nah, NGTC rules.

What's so wrong with different cars having different strengths ans weaknesses?

It wouldn't really work in the one race championship we have now

Here's the problem: lack of schedule diversity.

There's too many 1.5-mile intermediately-banked ovals on the schedule that made downforce more important than it should be. Change the cars and mix up the schedule, I guarantee you that fans will arrive in droves.

that's assuming that the tracks that aren't on the schedule now can afford the high sanctioning fee NASCAR mandates, but that's another can of beans for another time.

I know Sadler isn't the most interesting/compelling/likeable driver but I don't get the glee at his departure.

Me neither.

All I see is one less driver in NASCAR, which is something they can ill-afford at this point.

Think it's because he was a has-been taking up a spot that could have been given to someone more deserving.

I have nothing against Sadler... I just always felt he was "average".

And now, a word from Kasey Kahne:
[tweet]https://twitter.com/kaseykahne/status/1030068665620811777[/tweet]

tl;dr: Kahne's heart is no longer in NASCAR racing, will step away from full-time racing after this year.

That and he knows very well he wont be a top driver in that 95. Unfortunately Kahne's career has been over for a while.

Shit, just saw Kahne is already 38. I didnt realize he was that old,
