I also get the impression that there is a strong push for Saturday races but the mere thought of all the restrictions and limitations in place right now, I don't think that will ever work. And as previously said, we first have to have the time to watch two races. Obviously awesome for the kids at the track but that's the minority compared to the TV audience.

I also don't understand how the halo insert is still not working properly, in race 7.

Qualifying at this point is more interesting compared to the races.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

"Let's change the logo that everyone knows and loves. What could go wrong?" :slaphead:

Wait...didn't we already flag that as going to happen when the logos were announced?

Yeah...seems like this forum has more talent than Liberty Media when it comes to F1. :whistling:

so 3M can go on court and make Liberty drop that logo or just a money settlement and it's ok?

Yes, otherwise they'll loose claim to the copyright, they have to enforce it.

Most cases like this usually end up with the 'loser' paying to license the design from the victor. I can't remember how it ended up this way, but the last Apple Computer vs Apple Corps (the Beatles' record label) ended with Apple Corps - who won the previous cases and literally had the stronger argument the whole time - licensing their own name from the company who started much later and previously agreed to only use their infringing brand and logo in limited areas...

Trade mark cases are weird.

As a hardcore F1 fan (who happens to use post-its a lot) I would never have heard of such a product by 3M if it was not for this case.

I think it's in there interests not to block F1 to use this design and get a good cash from them in this one.

Didn't Apple (iPhone) basically argue that their brand was more recognized and popular so therefore they should have claim to the name?

iirc (cant be arsed to google it) this was settled and Apple Computers werent allowed to do anything music related. I think it was for xx years and after that passed they released iTunes.

In other news, Joe Saward is claiming Andretti might buy Force India: https://www.motorsportweek.com/joesaward/id/00246

I do think we'll see Force India either getting sold very soon or go belly up. For too long they have been asking to get their price money early and for too long has there been legal issues for their Indian owners. This can only go so far.
Hopefully they sell it in time. Hate to see it go belly up and then see potential buyers passing up on it due to the mess.

There were a few cases - Apple sued Apple Computer when they started, so they agreed not to enter the music business. They got sued again for adding MIDI capabilities to the Macintosh, and again when they added multimedia capabilities. In the settlement for that case, Apple Computer specifically agreed not to package or sell music.

When they introduced iTunes, the judge ruled that this didn't break the agreement(!) and - this is the bit I forgot - Apple ended up owing Apple's legal costs. The agreement to give the trade marks up was in exchange for a huge payment that basically sorted out Apple Corps' finances which had been in a mess since the 70s.

(This is still on topic; George Harrison released a single about Jackie Stewart )

According to some Belgian media, McLaren personnel has turned itself against the management, calling Boullier incompetent and demanding a return of Withmarsh. They have done that in the winter, and again in Canada.

I would not be surprised to be honest.

Can also see them bringing Ron back in eventually

To consider Whitmarsh a step up from Boullier is laughable. Whitmarsh was only truly good for McLaen when he was Ron Dennis’ sidekick.

When you're fired from an F1 team for "incompetence" or for not reaching the team's objectives, are you still welcome in the automotive industry (or other industries for that matter?)

From the outside, it appears that F1 is so competitive and out worldly, that even its underachievers would be top employees anywhere else
