As much as I want to see Magnus Racing back in IMSA (they're certainly a fun team to follow on social media)...that DQ won't help.

IMSA keeps me going back and forth between "This series is falling apart" and "its going ok". A couple months ago it seemed like everything was falling apart, with some mess with the new P2s, GT BOP issues, teams unhappy, etc. Then they went for awhile where they had some good news. A couple PC teams moving to P, Core to GTLM, some potential good rumors. After today idk anymore. It may just be because I saw so many unhappy people with the horrible coverage and Magnus penalty. I dont know what feed international people had, but here in America we didnt have TV coverage for the last almost 3 hours, we only had FSGO, and for the last 40 minutes it was unwatchably bad quality and stuttering for everyone.

They admitted it was their fault.

Quote:
Magnus Racing will not contest its post-race penalty, which dropped the No. 44 Audi R8 LMS to a 12th place class finish after crossing the line first in GTD. A team representative told Sportscar365 they had misunderstood the rule, which stated that its season-long Bronze/Silver rated driver must complete the minimum drive time of three hours in the race.

John Potter completed the opening 52-minute stint and did not get back in the car. The team had been under the impression its Silver-rated third driver, Marco Seefried, would have qualified for the minimum time requirement.

I think it's a dumb rule, but rules are rules.

Park Place Porsche lost second place in GTDt for the same reason as Magnus Racing.
