Thought I would do the next couple WEC threads considering I have been doing the TUSCC threads and that the next TUSCC race thread would be combined with WEC.

Damn, WEC, I remember that series! Didn't they race Le Mans like 3 years ago? Nissan turned up with a back-to-front car for a bit then went away again? Yeah I remember!

(Seriously, 2+ months between races....get a grip WEC  )

No not really. It will be a hot and sunny day. Which is good because I'll be there.

It is probably going to get fixed for next year. Either adding Monza or bringing forward the Nurburgring date.

Plus it does take a while to get cars ready again after something like a 24 hours.

Might miss a large part of this race because I'll likely be at Zolder.

C'mon, that can't be a point.
If they crash a car into pieces at LeMans in Qualifying the mechanics can rebuild it in some hours, but if they run 24h without major problems, they need 3 month to get them running again?
I don't think so...

It is more about the smaller teams and stacking up spareparts and so on. Especially the small teams probably use everything they have during the LM week. So the crash analogy is a flawed analogy because for such situation they'd have spare parts ready.

Also, clearly the potential July/early August race can't be a fly-away round.

Plus all the cars get a complete and thorough overhaul and re-build/fit of engine, gearbox, transmission and the likes. Some parts probably get a special revision as well. Also, with this being a series built on 'technological advancement', it gives the teams some time to turn the LM-data into improvements.

So, it's the first WEC race for months and what do Motors TV do? Interrupt the live broadcast with sodding motocross, of course! :slaphead:

Looks like it's going to be really, really hot on sunday...

Shame about the lack of support races. Still, can't wait to see these beasts at the track again
