2010 13th Annual Petit Le Mans Powered By Mazda2

Road Atlanta Grand Prix Road Course, GA USA

The largest field for a race in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón in more than seven years is coming to Road Atlanta. The 13th annual Petit Le Mans powered by MAZDA2 features 45 of the best and most innovative sports cars in the world.

A historic grid is more than appropriate for the annual 1,000-mile/10-hour race. It serves as the final round of the 2010 Series schedule with championships in all four classes coming down to the last race. Never before has there been this much at stake going into a season-ending race for the American Le Mans Series.

LMP: It's a two-horse race between Patrón Highcroft Racing and Muscle Milk Team CytoSport. Patrón Highcroft and its duo of David Brabham and Simon Pagenaud have won three times with their HPD ARX-01c prototype. Meanwhile, Muscle Milk's Klaus Graf has three wins to his credit (two with Greg Pickett, one with Romain Dumas) and sits 16 points behind Brabham and Pagenaud. Should it not and the Muscle Milk Porsche wins in class, both will have 166 points. Graf and Muscle Milk and Porsche (engine) would win the championship with four victories to PHR's three. In the manufacturer standings, HPD needs a third-place finish or better to clinch over Lola.

GT: This has been wide-open since before the season started. Porsche and Flying Lizard lead BMW and BMW Rahal Letterman Racing team by a single point. There are so many possible outcomes that it would be impossible to list them all. Risi Competizione and Ferrari are still in the mix. Risi (with three wins on the season) can win the championship with a victory and fifth-place finish or worse for both Flying Lizard AND BMW Rahal Letterman Racing. Ferrari would win the manufacturer title with a victory and a fourth-place finish or worse for the highest-finishing BMW and Porsche.

LMPC: Gunnar Jeannette (Green Earth Team Gunnar) and Scott Tucker (Level 5 Motorsports) each have four victories on the season. The drivers and their respective teams are deadlocked entering the final race. So it's pretty simple winner-take-all at Petit Le Mans.

GTC: Black Swan leads Velox by just 7 points but TRG and Alex Job Racing remain mathematically alive. Anything better than eighth-place points for Black Swan would wrap up the championship.

The final round of the 2010 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón is Petit Le Mans powered by MAZDA 2 at Road Atlanta. The 1,000-mile/10-hour race is set for 11:15am ET on Saturday, October 2. SPEED will air the race starting at 11:00am ET, with live radio coverage available on American Le Mans Radio presented by Porsche. Americanlemans.com will stream qualifying live starting at 3:15pm ET on Friday.

Yup. Hence why I got bored after LMP class haha! Two much cutting and pasting! :p

For some reason Planetlemans got bored of making ALMS entry lists for this year; they are still doing the LMES ones tho.

My tent was under 3 inches of water when I got back after the race last year, and it was covered in mud from someone who got stuck in front of it. :(

Randy, are you going then? Would be good to meet up with you and Joey.

Additionally, in race-related news, the Atlas-FX GT1 Saleen has dropped off the entry list, eliminating that class entirely. In its place however is now the Magnus Racing Porsche GT3 Cup from Grand-Am competition who will contest the race in GTC, keeping the entry at 45 cars.

Thank god the Saleen isn't there, 1 car racing "in between" everything just isn't right. It's due to their crash at Budapest btw

Yes I am. I have no clue where I'll be. Try and catch me on the grid. I'll either have a grey flatbill or a Tennessee Vols one. I'm big and black, too, incase you haven't see any pics of me.

I won't be able to make it to the grid, more than likely, as I'll be marshaling and the chances of getting a post near the start/finish line are pretty slim. I'll post on here during the week when I figure out what corner I'll be at and perhaps in your travels you'll be able to pay a visit or something.

Me and Buster will try to make it to the grid, but if we can't, we might be camped out on Spectator Hill just past the esses, depending on where he wants to go. It'd be awesome if Brendan got the marshal point just in front of the Hill.

I'll be likely in a Tennessee Titans hat and a Atlanta Braves shirt (look for COX 6 on the back).

Damn, I didn't know you were marshaling. How long have you been a marshal?

A little under two years... Anyone reading this really ought to consider marshaling - it's an awesome opportunity and a great way to give back to the racing community. Free entry to the pro races is a nice bonus too. :)

I'm still trying to get plans together. Right now it's about 75% that I'll be there. It all depends on if I can pull up some good grades in the next few days.
