I've never made a race thread before, but here is the thread for the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours

Created in 1923, the most famous endurance race in the world conveys values of sportsmanship, of challenge and technologies which men, car manufacturers and the major makes seek to make their own, whether by taking part in the race, standing out through their achievements, or by becoming partners.

Le Mans wrote:
The perspective of a grid made up of Peugeot, Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ford and Jaguar was a dream. And in June the dream will become reality! The quality and in-depth strength of the 78th Le Mans 24 Hours field will give spectators the opportunity to see the best cars in the world, and will make the race one of the outstanding sporting events of 2010.

Interested to see how the Ford GTs last.

Plus, will the Jaguar last 24 minutes?

I am so glad the race is after my uni exams this year

However, it's also clashing with the World Cup and an F1 weekend. I'm not all that bothered about missing any - it's what I'll miss catching up on sleep that I am bothered about. Looks like I'll have to work out a sleeping timetable of some kind

But it's going to be a good race, I think. Doesn't seem to be as hyped as recent years but it's a solid field, albeit not quite as good as last year's. GT2 looks good, though

Hopefully not overshadowed by GT1, just because of a number.

I don't know what to make of GT1 tbh. It looks like it'll be a good battle but I can't really get myself excited for it when the favourite for victory is LAA. It's looking like an increasingly anachronistic class with all the big GT money going into GT2 these days

What is Autocon doing there... they won't last 24 minutes even...

Too little variation in LMP1. All Peugeot's, Audi's and Lola's except two cars. Such a shame Pescarolo and Dome didn't make it.

I'm not definitely not complaining that the one of the first articles* in the rules has finally become true (last year too).

*
"LE MANS" PROTOTYPE 1 ("LM"P1): open or closed car, destined more especially to manufacturers.

Don't worry about the World Cup - the friday matches are usually shown on the giant screens around the track. At least it was 2008 with the EC. Thousands of dutch were watching at S/F area

Another thing to add on the to-do list

Tuesday 11am
Gérard Larrousse demo-run of the Porsche 917 L Martini around the start/finish area 8)

Official ACO timetable at http://www.lemans.org misses the Group C race
check this link for the full schedule
http://www.groupcracing.com/pages/44

Samedi 12 juin / Saturday 12 June
09.00 - 09:45 Warm-Up 24 Heures du Mans ®
10:00 – 10:40 Course/Race Porsche Carrera Cup
11:05 – 11:50 Course/Race Group C
12:10 – 12:30 Course/Race GP ELEC
14:22 Début de la procédure de départ/ Beginning of starting procedure 24 Heures du Mans
15:00 Départ 78ème édition des 24 Heures du Mans ®
Start of the 78th race of the 24 Heures du Mans ®
21 :00 – 00 :00 Concert

I find GT1 quite interesting to see how the Fords are doing, especially the #70 with Leinders and Paltalla, I have no idea bout de Docker though.
Matech #60 should be good, let's see what the ladies can do and if Gachnang is fit enough after her injury suffered in Abu Dhabi

GT2 is a bomb with 6-8 full works cars and acouple of semi-works to stealth-works Porsches, especially the #77 and the #97 BMS

LMP2 is great as well with Highcroft's Acura-HPD and that lineup, Quifel-ASM and RML (also with HPD-engine) as well as Strakka's Acura ... as long as Mr. Leventis stays away from the walls

And P1 - OMG
7 up to date Diesel plus 2 Kolles as well as the #007 with Primat, Mücke, Fernandez that should be good enough to stay ahead of Kolles and might come into play when it gets too hot at the front. Not to forget Rebellion, they were quick when it was damp at Spa

And let's pray that JLOC lasts 24 hours and all practice sessions - just for the sound of it...

btw, I'm there from before the monday morning to sunday late evening

From the article posted...

Quote:
To score the Triple Crown, a driver has to win either the Indianapolis 500 or the Indy/CART title, plus either the Monaco Grand Prix or the F1 drivers' title and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

I'm sure the triple crown isn't a Indycar/CART title, thats just made up to the article look more interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Crown_of_Motorsport

Villeneuve came close with second at Le Mans in 2008.

Why do they give the JLOC Lambo an entry ever year? Its so amateurish, last year they didn't even ran the race.

Also why are there no Formula Le Mans cars?
