nice

Anyway.. That idiot cameraman... If you watch, he actually got carried off by the car.
too many times have I seen it where people in the pit lane don't understand the basic rules and think themselves to special or important to have to follow them.
that guy was obviously so intent on winning himself a prize for filming a pitted car that he forgot the rules.
The guys in the next pit were out, which means something obvious!
Sorry but a live pitlane is dangerous and you need your wits about you and be more interested in what's going on in your surroundings than through the lens of your camera!

I'm not too impressed with his wingman there, Ed.

Heh, look at the ad that appeared when I watched that (I know the adbots look at the video key words but still...):

Anyone notice how the marshall that was next to him kinda positioned him right in front of the car?

So, given it was never mentioned again - what actually happened to the cameraguy who got a ride on the Audi? I haven't seen any reports everywhere.

EDIT:

There's a quote on the Youtube comments section. Might be true, I dunno.

Quote:
Cameraman is friend of mine. Broken left arm, lacerations to both legs and hips and lots of sore bits! He is on his way home to UK for possible operation to pin the broken arm.

Overall classification is provisional for the first two places of the GT2 category

I saw this on the official end result, have the engines been checked already, or are we in for a surprise ?

It would be most wonderful if someone could post a video of the cameraman-audi-broken wingmirror incident in the pits, as I have still not seen it!!

I understand now why it wasn't shown in replays :o

Hopefully ratings were good enough that ACO can demand all around better coverage. Going back to Motors would be a step back, imho.

You're being far too harsh on the cameraman who was probably just doing his job and having his director yell at him to get the shot through his headphones...
Racing drivers aren't the only ones under pressure during race weekends you know...

The fault is with the other guy with him. The Cameramen should have a banksmen type spotter person with them to keep them out of trouble and be their eyes, etc, so the camera operator is free to line up and film his shot while the other guy keeps an eye out for danger.
You can see the other guy thinks "hmm, there's a car coming in, oh well we've probably got enough room...oh wait shit, no we don't" *Too late*

Camera man was not at fault there. That was entirely on his grip, and the grip failed miserably. His grip should've pulled him out of the way, and he wasn't focused on cars coming down pit lane like he's supposed to be. That is one of my fears if I ever do camera work in motorsports like that, is a bad grip who is not aware of what's going on.

Ok.. suppose his Grip should have been on the lookout as the cameraman was 'otherwise engaged'... but ffs he was stood in a hot pitlane, and he wandered out.. the grip was garage side of him, he should have been shielding him...
Cameramen who i have seen working in a hot pitlane usually dont have their faces pushed into the camera,... they have the rear view screen jobbie... thus still having peripheral conscious awareness.
a verdict of stupidity can be laid at a number of peoples feet here i think

Motors is pretty shit these days. Unless you like AMA Motor cross. Their WRC coverage was supposed to be revolutionary. Think Channel 4 did it better 10 years ago! :(
