Like Sebring and Le Mans, it will be a total war between Audi, unbeaten in race at this day, and Peugeot, winner of Le Mans 2009 and near to win it last year.

But they're not alone in LMP1. Of Course, Acura is here with Highcroft Racing and de Ferran Motorsport, but French team Oreca also participate in this race for the first time with a 2-car effort. Swiss team Speedy Racing Team Sebah will be there with their own Lola-Aston Martin. But Aston Martin maybe participate at the race, but they wants clarification of ACO's rules.(or buy BMW in F1?) Last special newcomer, Drayson racing with a Lola-Judd. And of course, presence of Corsa Motorsport, Intersport and Autocon.

In LMP2, no special newcomer, it's a Acura-Fernandez vs Mazda-Dyson battle.

And GT2 will be hottest class with Porsche (Flying Lizard, Farnbacher-Loles, VICI Racing), Ferrari (Risi Competizione and partner Krohn Racing), BMW (Rahal-Letterman Racing) and Corvette (Corvette Racing and maybe LG Motorsport). But don't miss good surprise of the PTG Panoz, Ford Robertson, and maybe the Rocketsports Jaguar.

It will be a fantastic race, a real new legend race of Endurance racing since Daytona are reserved for Crap-Am.

Not sure where I'll be at for the race... I've requested either the Esses or Turn 10/10A, but the assignments change every day and we won't find out until each morning where we're stationed.

Rules clarification? What you mean? There was that meeting in June between ACO and manufacturers. Verdict was that Aston's use of direct injection is ok. Audi's loop hole finding (front aero regs) was solved too.

We will see if AMR appears on the entry list, but I think they concentrate on LMS (3 cars on the last two rounds) and the Asian Okayama race in November.

Quote:
HPD's chief Erik Berkman readily admits Acura has not done any engine development since the Sebring season-opener.

"We want to develop the engine and the chassis to be better and better, but we're coasting right now," Berkman said. "We're racing, but we're not trying to make real progress. We built that car so we could develop it to be a giant-killer, but at the moment there's no incentive for us."

I think we're going to see a repeat of Sebring. Sadly because the first two laps of Sebring were very sad racing. If you know what I mean... diesel regulations.

No, it's beacause the equivalance between the Gasoline cars and the Diesels. They just need that to say yes or no.

From what has been said on another discussion board (whose members have links to the inside of the sportscar racing industry), AMR will not be there with their own prototypes... They are technically not allowed to run Gulf sponsorship in the US - something having to do with Chevron having the rights in this country to that brand...

Also, I have heard both on again/off again answers regarding Speedy Racing/Team Sebah... Is that now a confirmed entry?

I could be totally wrong, but that's what I got out of the Midweek Motorsport discussion on this very topic:

Quote:
You are right Hindy, contacted the brass at Gulf this morning. The Astons won't run in the US due to the Gulf sponsorship. Gulf is NOT allowed to operate in the USA (trade mark agreement with Chevron who own the brand rights there)
