What about the fuel regs, you mean purposeful coasting to save fuel? Unlike in F1, the limit is per lap not per race, so you can't really save fuel for later use.

But that means that there effectively is a ceiling-effect (cellar, in fact ) in terms of what can be attained on a lap-by-lap basis, right? I mean that it might not be possible to see cars going a second underneath their qualy-lap because the fuel restricts them to get that little bit extra on a lap

True, but the usual things still help, temperature, drivers zoning in and pushing, generally taking more out of the engine if needed. And assuming that the cars seriously try to get the pole. Now the window to do it might be a bit short with the reduced running time.

You have the biggest sporting event in Europe, and yet it is amazing how many incidents/crashes they can miss... I understand it ain't easy to have camera around such a large track, but still, it amazes me.

Has been this way forever. Since those roads are usually quite busy (especially Les Hunaudières), they are opened all through Friday. Can't really have tons of cables/equipment laying around.

You don't have to have the state of the art equipment I think for that purpose.

Doesn't France have some really odd working hour laws? I recall that being given as a reason for a lack of TV camera coverage in previous years?

Imagine that in the world cup we would have only one still camera for anything that happens before the match (warming up, interviews, anthems etc), and then for the match a whole bunch of cameras.

I mean, we are 2014, right?

Is there something you would like to add, or are we done with this? Yes, think if football fans was as spoiled as we are that international TV would air all their practice sessions.
