My favorite place to marshal as well.

Watching the Dyson and Muscle Milk cars from there near the end of the race last year was incredible. You only know who had the lead when they came under the bridge because they were swapping the spots back and forth every lap(which the TV never showed), including one of them where they doored each other through the Downhill, which was sketchy as shitttt.

EDIT: TBK Lime Rock ALMS meetup?

I'm down. Also thank you for that location! I didn't know you could go over there. We usually park ourselves at the top of Spectator Hill, then walk around towards mid distance. I do like watching the cars hammer the brakes and negotiate the first chicane. Watching them get a little light as they crest the hill on the run to the second chicane is pretty nice as well.

Lime Rock is such a great little track.

In the biggest shock in motorsport for some time it was announced today that several F1 journalists had got a story completely wrong.

Reports are now coming in of minor injuries in the F1 press room as colleagues are being repeatedly struck by toys being thrown from a number of baby carriages as Mark Webber confirmed what everyone apart from the ‘most respected voices in Formula One’ had already been saying for ages, that he’ll be leaving the FIA WEC’s feeder series to join the big show from 2014.

Mark Webber’s PR representative has reportedly been expelled from an until now undisclosed secret society “The Gravy Train” for failing to disclose the story “exclusively” to all of its members at the same time.

Webber, one of the most popular drivers in the F1 paddock (shouldn’t that read the only popular driver in the F1 paddock? Ed) is looking forward to changing his career completely from Formula One driver to Racing Driver.

In many ways this will involve Mark taking a major step back in his career though he is expected to rapidly re-learn the skills of overtaking, spontaneous smiling and driving for more than three laps without pitting for tyres, reasonably quickly.

Sebastien Vettel’s response is expected to be an excitable bound onto the orange box he keeps with him at all times to practice podium celebrations before getting cross when he realises that Webber’s replacement is likely to be someone whose career prospects will be transformed by the simple process of driving one of the three cars on the grid capable of winning a race (Four if you count anything Alonso is driving).

Need to put Rast, Edwards and Marino in the other 2 seats in some combination.

http://www.racer.com/exclusive-hpd-prep ... le/300655/

In a nutshell: HPD planning to offer P1 chassis, the coupe design by Wirth that has been in the backburner for a while, with IndyCar derivative V6 and different levels of ERS systems (levels meaning this: http://i.imgur.com/ckXfrOg.png). And by the sound of it at least, with similar to ALMS-years support.

Privateer options for 2014 do not look so gloomy anymore.

Maybe more relevant here:

They also proved last year that the regulations were pretty balanced, so it wasn't very good seeing them get a fuel break which gives them an extra 2 laps.

Toyota's point was that Audi simply turned fuel usage into power, benefits of turbo. Actually this can be somewhat proven by Audi's sudden drop of stint length already at the start of the season, situation was completely turned upside down from last year. Because the 2% rule is what it is, last year makes no difference rules wise. More questionable part was Toyota's possible sandbagging at Silverstone & Spa and the timing of the adjustment.

Btw, that 2% rule is not in the 2014 regulations. Rebellion's Bart Hayden's interpretation is that it now means any gap in performance is unacceptable... no idea how that is possible to achieve. I hope BoP after 2014 would be applied more scientifically since the whole regs are more like that, and certainly not by looking at lap times which is retarded if the point is to balance engines.

Alright, awesome. I'll be there all day Thursday, the first half of Friday and all day Saturday, we'll have to figure out a time and location.

Also, does anyone know if they'll be using the position boards on the cars like they did at Laguna?

Toyotas point is true, but this applies to every car ever, and especially to the Toyota as we seen during the race. When they went faster, they got 1 less lap of fuel. Whilst it is the benefit of a turbo, this was a choice made by Toyota. You cannot pick a less optimal package and then complain when it is less optimal. Toyota have no right to complain about performance gaps because last season the cars were extremely close, and this season the Toyota is actually slower than the old one. If they're just going to give Toyota a bigger tank every time Audi make a step forward, why are we even here. Last years the cars were balanced. Audi moved forward, Toyota didn't. That is due to the budgets and approaches by the teams, and should not be balanced.

Whilst this sounds harsh, BoP should not apply between works and private teams. I love Rebellion (and Strakka), but look at the differences in how the teams operate. Rebellion buy pre-built off the shelf customer chassis and engines. Audi design everything from scratch, and take upwards of 5 different aerokits testing, and 2 different aerokits to built up races, and then run 2 different configurations in the race itself. The difference between the 2 teams is staggering, and the point where Rebellion and Strakka can compete with Audi (and Toyota) is the point where all works teams leave because their budget and effort would just be swallowed by the BoP. It'd be like balancing the GT cars so that Larbre could keep up with Pratt and Miller.

Sky Sport Italy reporting rumors from the F1 paddock regarding a possible interest by Ferrari to join WEC in a prototype class. Still find it pretty hard to believe.

I don't see that happening. What was the last Ferrari prototype? They never really built the 333SP, just licensed it, and I don't think they ever ran a works team. I think you have to go back to the 70s before you find a proper Ferrari prototype that had a works team.

That is a Glickenhaus LMP, not a Ferrari. Yes he want's it to be a Ferrari but it isn't.
