"They talked to us about how we can speed up our cars by 6 seconds. If that's the case, we might as well all throw our cars away. -- If Continental or someone else makes a new tire, that's one thing, but if we're going to stick to what we have and just find 6 seconds, you're talking about 75 horsepower, more aerodynamic devices, diffusers, wind tunnel work. -- Suddenly, most of your stuff is obsolete and all of the spares are obsolete. So I don't think it's realistic in them expecting us to do that.”

"We don't need to do anything; we're the top class. -- We just invested $250,000 per car a year ago for Gen-3. As a Ford team, I'm also having to go to a turbo motor and another nose and bumper cover because we have new Ford stuff coming [for 2014]. -- So for me to have a [new] rear wing, diffuser, front splitter, it's pointless. As far as I'm concerned, we are the premier class in [USCR] and we shouldn't have to spend any more money to make our cars compatible with P2.”

"There's a passionate group that want LMP racing; I get that. -- It's a very small minority compared to what the majority is right now. We just can't afford that. There are only a handful of Tucker’s, Dyson’s and Pickett's. In fact, half of them own [DP] cars. -- We're catering to four cars right now. These guys with the bucks, we know who they are, when they are going to be told that their car has to be dumbed down, let's see who we really have.”

"Realistically speaking, I don't see any P2s coming to the series, and certainly not under the current rules and regulations. -- I don't understand really why they are looking at P2 because the car is clearly so much more effective [than the DP]. To speed us up would be monumental. -- With a DP program, you can race on Sunday and [sell] on Monday. I think over time this would be what the car manufacturers would be able to get their heads around and much more cost-effective than currently in ALMS or the WEC. -- I think there should be an obligation from the new series to protect the investment that's being made here. The sooner people recognize that it will be all DPs, the sooner car manufacturers are going to look at this.”

"There's no way a P2 car can survive a 24-hour battle [at Daytona],” he said. “It's different at Le Mans when there's 50 cars over an 8-mile track. But when there's going to be 70 or 80 cars on a 3.5-mile track, with all the cars hitting each other... These cars come back battle scarred. The HPD is a great car and it can take a couple of hits. But it's not going to survive a scrum with a DP car over a 24 hour race at Daytona. -- I think the series needs to focus on putting out a benchmark. ‘Here's the DP. If you have a P2 car, we'll retain it, but if new people want to get involved in the series, then DP is the form to go with.’ Give it a grandfather clause for two years and by 2016 it would be a DP-only class."

I knew from the start that the merger would have meant bye bye ALMS and a Grand-Am takeover. That's just another nail in the coffin.
