Risi has lost the win at Petit and the title in the last lap...

Their new motto: "to finish first, first you have to finish" ? Congrats to Corvette and BMW!

Shame Audi lost, but once again a brilliant race!

So I'm back. The people I was with wanted to leave at 6, so hey-ho. Didn't get to see a whole lot of racing. Spent most of the day hiking because I lost the people I came with. Didn't see Joey. Or Buster. Or Brendan. Oh well, maybe next time.

So me and Chris have returned from PLM 2010. Quite possibly the most fun I've ever had at a motor race. BTW, there were more people here than at the Atlanta Cup races this year, or so I'm told.

Some things:
-My whole thing about "bring old shoes" is right. There is red clay everywhere still.
-You can't see shit on the rickety-ass mainstraight grandstands. So you move elsewhere. Like the paddock, where you discover that you're standing one foot from Giancarlo Fisichella and Mika Salo, who are oh-so-casually conversing about the race.
-It's very easy to blow money quickly at an ALMS race - what between buying an awesome Gulf hat that I am planning to wear everywhere and anywhere, and buying an equally awesome set of paintings of the Rothmans 956 and Lowenbrau 962, and other things - so you look for freebies. Such as snowcones. I have a newfound love for snowcones.
-Spectator Hill is one of the most awesome places to watch a race. Ever.
-When the Risi Ferrari ran out of fuel on the final lap, we were headed to the podium. Chris stopped me, and Hindhaugh nearly had a coronary on the PA system. Literally. And Corvette won, and I was a little ecstatic about it.
-Running like a madman in a crowded pit area when crewmembers are trying to get shit put up, and cars are moving around, is not generally a good idea. Ask Chris about this.
-Quoting lines from "Days of Thunder" with Jon and Clint Field is pretty fun to do.
-If Peugeot wins a local world championship sports car race in your area, go up to their paddock area. If you catch the right crew member at precisely the right time, he might be able to give you a Peugeot flag - and even a bottle of champagne.
-There's something pretty cool about shaking the hand of a former F1 driver, even if Chris calls him an "F1 Reject". Pedro Lamy ran in F1, so fucking what if he's an F1 reject.
-We also ran into David Brabham and Marino Franchitti, leaving the podium. We congratulated them on the ALMS title, and the fact that they turned around, acknowledged us, and thanked us is awesome. I don't think many drivers would do that in other series.
-I didn't want to leave Road Atlanta. It was so awesome.
-Shame we didn't run into Randy, because that would have been cool as well.
-Why the fuck have you not come up here yet King Chin
-I kind of wish I lived 2.5 miles from Road Atlanta instead of Atlanta Motor Speedway

Got home to my apartment, here's my experience at the Petit Le Mans:

-Joey's mom is one of the nicest people I've met. If I hear one bad word about her in person, the person who said it will have their face beaten in.
-Joey's house could qualify as the unofficial NASCAR museum of Hampton, GA. I thought the hero cards of Michael Waltrip and Lake Speed next to each other were a nice touch.
-The "uncensored" Winston poster from 1987 was a damned rare find.
-Joey's car is a pretty good car. If he gets a working radio in it, it'll be perfect.
-When we got to the track, we walked 2 miles from the car to the track. Ticket was $65, got me into the paddock as well, which was pretty cool.
-Walked by Calvin Fish and Dorsey Schroeder before the race, Joey nearly ruined his pants from the excitement. :p
-Grandstands on the main straight should be raised so more of the track can be seen, stayed there for all of the first lap and the last 10 laps.
-Went to Turn 1, weren't more than 25 feet from the edge of the track.
-Hitchhiking up the massive hills at Road Atlanta is recommended. We did it, and it was good.
-Vendor Village is awesome.
-I introduced Joey to the snowcones. The Kid Zone was giving them away for free, and seeing as how we're both college students, we both love free shit. The cherry flavored ones tasted damned good, ended up getting 4 or 5 of them.
-Spectator hill is awesome.
-I put on the Rhombus shirt when we found out we were going to meet Brendan. I actually got my mom to put the letters and the shape on the shirt for me while I was at LSU during the week. I was shocked she did it. Brendan, you took it all in stride.
-When I heard "DRAMA ON THE LAST LAP" on the PA system, I had to stop Joey because I knew something was going on.
-IMSA Photographers suck.
-I wasn't doing anything dangerous by running in the paddock. I've been to several races, I know how crowds work. :p
-Why the hell is Road Atlanta a Pepsi product track when it's in the middle of Coca Cola country?
-Joey nearly had a coronary thinking his car had been stolen.
-Dust vandalism on cars is funny as hell. I've never seen so many dicks drawn on cars in my life.

Porsche is always Brillant.

Anyway, is see the whole race in alternance with Speed and MotorsTv at Family. Another Peugeot 1-2 with Sarrazin and FKM in front, and at the regular, WOOOOOOO :flag:

WTF Audi with Capello's Balaclava? :o Really bad joke to lose a race. :(

GT2 was Awesomze as usual, Corvette finally wins it. FUCK YEAH! :flag: Ferrari is the great loser of the 2010 GT2 season. Only major win at Sebring. :(

That's was a good race, but i needed more battling for P1 at the end, Audi was fast as Peugeot Now. Maybe at Zhuhaï, for a cool way to finish the season?
