Those red pods on the side are in fact the hydrogen tanks themselves. That seems horrifyingly exposed, until you read that they carry approximately 3-4kg of hydrogen each, while the tanks themselves weigh over 80kg... Seems fairly strong to me.

Sounds great, just a shame it's so far outside the regulations... 8L in a 5.5L maximum class? Ehhhhh

Yeah but Don will allow anything in his series at this point. But it'll never ever race at LM which sucks.

Oh I thought they had dispensation for Le Mans?

They need to come up with a new GT class so the difference between GT2 and GT3 can become bigger (Not involving Ratel in this).

Incorrect, the car is in fact ACO homologated... Those waivers are from the very top.

QTFing + quote:

DAGYS: The Viper has received a waiver to run the 8.0-liter V10 in GT. Aside from that, how has the homologation process been with the ACO?

RILEY: I think we've always had a great relationship with the ACO and of course SRT has also. It's been a pretty nice process so far. There's been no big issues and everything's gone real smooth. We've had a lot of meetings. But it's all gone very well.

Speaking of which, why is this tent at Le Mans right now?

How often from a race team/car that has not even debuted yet? And on a continent where they will never race?

Well in 2003, Porsche had the GT1 and an old LMP sitting in a stand with no GT cars. 2008 Lister had a stand. Just because it's there, it doesn't mean much - there are loads of random stuff dotted about. Hell, Infiniti had a stand a few years back with some road cars in it. When was the last time they announced they were going to race anything at Le Mans? Maybe they'll make an announcement, maybe a road car will be sitting in it, maybe a race car will be in it, who knows? But just because a tent has shown up it doesn't mean anything.

As for the waiver, frankly its beyond retarded. Lets allow an 8L engine in a 5.5L class, whilst restricting the LMPs to 1.4L. That sounds completely logical. Maybe, just maybe, they should hurry up and sort out these GT regulations.

I get this, but SRT is not participating in the race right now unlike Porsche was in 2003 and it's not a car brand or manufacturer per se. Announcement is possible.

Corvette can't be too happy about this, unless they have already sent a similar waiver plea to ACO...

I think that was a joke...

or reference to the rumored F1 1.6L engine formula, but since yesterday, false rumor.

That was going to be the rules, hence the talk of including the new F1 engines in WEC. As is the ACO though, they've went with fuel flow regulations which are horrifically expensive and very complex rules wise. Balancing this is going to be a huge issue

Looking forward to the good mix, but it's going to be a regulation like P2 last year. And if they grandfather cars in then itll be even funnier, lol.
