Query about the Petit LM and WEC in $ahrain clash for the ACO style of racing experts - will that seriously affect the PLM field size? I know Pug are gone anyway and Audi and Toyota will do the WEC round instead but who else do you reckon would have initially been going to Atlanta but will now be going to that well known bastion of sportscar racing in the middle of nowhere?

I only ask as there's a chance I might be able to make it down that way for the race but it's a long journey for a handful of Oreca one-make cars and some GT3 cup-class Porsches.

It's a standard ALMS round, so it will still be attracting the full-season ALMS grid. It also serves as the season finale, so there is still a championship atmosphere to the event.

The WEC grid will be at Bahrain and Fuji now, so that rules out any of the WEC grid running at Petit. I could potentially have seen Audi running at Petit anyway with Audi Sport North America (while Joest went to the WEC events) but that now seems unlikely. Rumour has it there are still Le Mans auto-invites available for winning Petit Le Mans, so the idea was that maybe some of the ELMS LMP2 cars would come over in an attempt to win a bid for Le Mans, but who knows? ALMS would do well to subsidize some of those entries in terms of a travel package or similar, but time will have to tell.

There seems to be something more to the Toyota-Dome connection other than just commissioning test beds... http://www.mulsannescorner.com/newsjan12.html (=> 2.3.12)

Why Davidson? There are much better drivers left out without a ride with Peugeot's withdraw.

Haters gonna hate, but pretty sure he was still in the top three or whatever on that list. For future too. At least Bourdais, Minassian and Pagenaud are no longer available.

Ishiura is the 3rd driver: http://www.toyotahybridracing.com/toyot ... r-line-up/

1:48.192 in the winter test. Last year's best lap from all sessions was Pagenaud's qual lap of 1:49.802.

Front looking a bit different to the render released by Strakka last year... http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/2191 ... 598310.jpg

Former Peugeot driver Stephane Sarrazin will drive the Starworks team's LMP2 class HPD in the WEC

Toyota now has a (small) shot at the WEC title. Amendments to the sporting regs: 1 car instead of 2 scores points and 6 of the 8 races counts towards the championship. Good for 2012, but if retained for 2013, not so good. Waters down things.

That fin looks so out of place. It looks like someone did a poor job of attaching cardboard to the back of the car.

The fin is still horrible, but with the meme pic I actually meant the transparency or optical illusion...
