Yeah I was at brands today for the first time since the year dot, nice 4-5 layer high barriers, with a match stick behind them.

Reminds of the "red Audi R8 in Maranello" ad.

From that video that car looks like the easiest car in the world to drive. Everything's so effortless.

Didn't bother counting with a timer but that also looks like a pretty fast lap. "Effortless" is a good word, and "uninspiring" and "boring". Of course it isn't as easy at it looks like but still, that's how it looks like and it results in less appreciation. Physically it is probably pretty hard still just not for the hands (powersteering), but you can't get the sensation of G forces in a video.

Nowadays cars can drive closer to the limit the whole race, but at the same time in a way the minimum skill level required to drive is has been lowered so much that even a fast lap looks boring compared to a slow in lap from decades ago.

Maybe the top P1 could look a bit more busy when pushing harder which is not what a poor private P2 is going to do but thanks to ACO's always shitty onboard cameras, we'll never know.

Regarding how effortless and easy to drive that car seemed to be during that lap, I found it particularly interesting to note the first chicane. Looks like he might have outbraked himself just a hair, but only made a small correction and he was on his merry way again.

A pat on the back to the engineering teams behind the projects to make something at such a limit look so effortless. Does take a bit away from the spectacle but it's progress at the end of the day.

I don't think Millennium chances of ever getting approved for the race again has been increased after this spring.

One of the comments(you probably have read it as you have several comments in 2 version of this video on YT ):
"LMPs are for boys, but Group Cs are for men!!!"

Agree ACO camera positions are shit but I don't think it's any different in the LMP1s based on the Toyota and Porsche onboard videos that showed the steering wheel

It's smooth as in the Lancaster video even when the car slides a bit and they had to correct

But it's not only sportcars that are easier to drive. I would say all nowadays race cars are a lot easier to drive then before. Just look how smooth, boring and easy all F1 poles looks in the last decade or so

My favourite onboard :p

What onboards do you mean? I have never seen ones from either car from official race sessions. Or do you mean just the stupid face-facing camera angle, mostly shown during pitstops?

I agree, but relatively it is worse in endurance because of the fact that they are not always driving on the limit but instead in some kind of a comfort zone. F1 looks still pretty busy, lots of opposite lock moments, especially this year with the added torque. I'm afraid spectacle cancer traction control (allowed in P2 too) plays a big role in this.

Typically on Thursday but then again there were the rumors that it would be moved to saturday because of a big announcement.

No, I didn't mean during official sessions. I don't remember ACO using one of these onboards(showing steering wheel) since 2009 or so . What I was talking about is two PR videos from Toyota and Porsche at Paul Ricard.

The Toyota one is from 2012 while the Porsche's is one of their promo videos from the beginning of this year:
The Toyota video from 2 versions(didn't check, right now, if the same but different duration):

the official one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4vma_L8N1k

Porsche's very brief one(some 5seconds) but at the fastest corner of Paul Ricard:

Yeah, TC is non-driving. It should never be allowed in racing, imo.

But to be fair to LMPs, there are some onboards from them(LMP2s) showing quite a lot of work from the driver. Go onto Rusinov's youtube channel and watch his G-drive LMP2 onboard laps.

I also remember one video from Mosport, that you linked IIRC, and it was not from long ago, which also demanded quite some skill from the driver

That Porsche onboard is pretty awesome. But something says me something like that wouldn't be allowed by the manufactures given the amount of data displayed on all those screens.
