ALMS says he's been released from the hospital, so that's good.

Yep, there a very big crash. Intersport have really bad luck.

Anyway, I'm looking very high for a Peugeot Win, but looks like Aston Martin are doesn't fo far. i think also the Winning will be:

(Caution, Bourdais fanboy here)

1-Bourdais/Lamy/Minassian

But for GT2, it's really hard to choose a winner. Indeed, i think the Porsche can win with Lizards. :)

It has happened far too many times since 2008:

I'm looking for a crash that happened at Le Mans sometime since 2007 where a open Lola-prototype went airborne and tumbled before the first chicane. I believe it was a Japanese driver.

It was Hideki Noda in qualifying, 2008. Couldn't find a video in a quick search though.

Man that looked really bad im glad hes okay.

With all these huge airborne crashes happenening with these le mans crashes lately its kinda dissapointing that none of them are really caught well on camera prob cause theyve all happened in practice or testing, they rarely seem to have big crashes in the actual race.

Field's been released from the hospital, with details from the ALMS website to follow later this morning.

Let's not also forget Jamie Campbell-Walter and Dindo Capello going airborne at Monza in 2008, the same weekend as Ortelli's horrible crash. Noda flipped in qualifying at Le Mans in 2008, and I believe it was Nicolas Minassian who went airborne in a big way at Silverstone in 2008 when he collided with a Porsche exiting Chapel.

Sadly the takeoff speed of these cars is comparatively very low - I can't imagine Field was traveling more than 150 or 160mph, and still the car went airborne. Fortunately the ACO is hauling these cars back to LMP2 engines for next year which should help prevent this sort of continued occurrence.

Fortunately though, everyone involved in these accidents have walked away, proving the safety of these cars if nothing else.

-----------------

Back to Sebring itself though, Intersport have confirmed they have a second chassis in their Dublin, Ohio shop they can use if needed. The Robertson Racing #40 Doran Ford GT has also confirmed they should be ready to roll for the race, saying that 90% of the parts can be ordered and the other 10% are ready to be fabricated. They aim to be ready for night practice on Thursday. Tommy Sutherland had an off in the Genoa LMPC car, damaging the nose but certainly not badly enough that it is beyond repair. One of the Peugeots, the #07 was also rumoured to have an off, nut no damage was apparent after he stopped on track.

No sign of Creation or Audi.

Well, walked or hopped :p (Ortelli with a broken ankle or foot in his Monza crash)

Thanks for reminding this will the be the last year of big engines. :(

Goodbye V12s and hello to "520 hp" (and even less for new LMP2s). :(

I must say I've not been paying much attention over the off season and I see that P1 and P2 are hurting even more than last year. GT2 will be great as always but have a look at LMPC & GTC. Those are not just field filler cars. There are some world class drivers in those classes. Overall, this could be one of the most talent stacked Sebrings in a many years. Unfortunately the best racing won't be going on at the overall lead but the bottom three classes will be EPIC.

Intersport have also withdrawn their LMP1 as a result of Field's accident - can't say I blame them. That's 34 entries then and now just 5 LMP1's. Official track action starts tomorrow at 8am for the Skip Barber cars. Camping is already very full - cannot wait!
