What a mess over there. Another blow for USC also.

Isn't 2017 a bit too early to change the rules?
Either it's based on the current LMP2 rules, or the Ligier and the forthcoming projects (new Oreca and Zytek) will have a 2-3 years lifespan.

Quite frankly, I'm pretty tired of the FIA/ACO continuously rushing to help IMSA just to have 3 or 4 prototypes competing there (and often BoPed to hell). Just let them run whatever they want in the top tier class for the time being, when DPs will be history and LMP2s will be the only way to go we'll see if it still makes sense to run an entire sportscar championship based on prototypes just to have the Daytona 24h and Sebring 12h.

https://www.youtube.com/user/WorldChallengeTV/videos

their youtube channel has the full races. several rounds are in their full raw format, it's pretty nice. nbc and mavtv have broadcasted condensed highlights of the races, which are also posted on their channel.

Which is good for those who don't have either NBCSN, MAVtv, or both.

OT (or not):

So Randy Lanier is being released from prison, after serving 27 years of a "life without parole" sentence after being an integral part in the "International Marijuana Smugglers Association" during the 80's. The life without parole came from refusal to cooperate with the prosecution. He had been convicted, but disapperaed before being sentenced.

Wikipedia says this about his release:

Quote:
Otherwise serving a life sentence, reasons unbeknownst, Randy Lanier is scheduled to be released from prison. Discharge date 15 Oct., 2014 was reportedly confirmed to Autoweek Magazine insiders by Jim Porter, 1st assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois. Apparently, the Federal Bureau of Prisons website also confirms Lanier's date of discharge conditional to requirement (1) he spend a six month duration in a halfway house before (2) entering a three-year long supervised release into society where (3) he will be disallowed alcohol and/or firearms. Apparently, Lanier is reported to have a job awaiting him, at a classic-car museum somewhere in Florida.[21]

Anyone have any other info?

He was probably safer in prison if it is known that he was released in exchange for information on fellow criminals. He'll have one eye over his shoulder for years.

That's interesting. I too have read, somewhere in the depths of the internet, that it would preferable for him to stay locked in.

Speaking of, does anyone believe that John Paul Sr is still alive somewhere? He's the sketchiest of the lot.

I didn't mean to sound all sensationalist or anything. Just look at the John Paul Sr case... read about that guy's life. It literally sounds like a movie. That shit does happen.

Not sure which one of us misunderstood, I meant that in real life it seems to be easier to stay alive and undercover than in the movies.

Pirelli World Challenge: the next american united sportscar series

Just add a P2 class to the front of it and it'd be perfect.
