I was thinking that it'd be a really nice touch if they had a moments silence at 3:08pm Local time tomorrow in honour of Allan.

Everyone will be there and it'd just be before the post-race celebrations, which are going to be muted anyway, so it makes sense to do it at the time 1 day after his fatal crash.

The #92 Porsche had a little excursion in Arnage and lost a lot of time squeezing back out onto the track again. Epic battle shall have to wait :p

Does anyone have (or can make) a screen grab of repairs to the barriers after Simonsen's crash and you could clearly see the tree he had contacted?

I think it's shocking they would have such a hazard, even if it is a rather long way from the racing line... didn't Rockenfeller have a very similar crash there?

Rockenfeller's crash was between Mulsanne and Indianapolis.

It may be the first time ever (or in a very long while) that a car crashed there. And for all the talk about the trees, I don't think they had anything to do with the crash. I mean if it was not trees, it would have been a wall of concrete or something else. Surely they should put better barriers but other than that there's not much you can do about it.

I wonder how Aston will react on a victory. Must be hard.

He means a crash from 2008 (or 2007, don't remember).

Sleeping through Nationwide...bad plan!

Much shenanigans coming up.

Rockenfeller crashed there in 2007.

Yeah those images of rocky trying to repair his car are legendary.

Not the screencap you've asked but here you can see the trees are awfully close to the barriers.

Girlfriend has gone to bed, time to log in and try to enjoy the race.

Obviously the race has started terribly, but the rest of the race has not been bad at all. Only the commercials on Eurosport every 8 minutes are getting hard to bare.

as i've already posted a while ago: i'm 100 percent sure that there was a "peeled" tree to see, when they showed the repair of the armco. to say it carefully: i'm afraid this didn't help. i know, this discussion won't bring him back, but they have to change something there... :( so maybe somebody got the scene on video...

Anyone for the night stint?

I am managing ok at the moment, I had a nap around 6pm and I had pizza and some Coca Cola for my dinner.

I'll be here for a lot of it, probably going to nap around 2-4.

I will skip the night and wake-up at around 5 for the sunrise instead. Much better experience in my opinion.

The paps are surrounding Patrick Dempsey's garage. Guess it is his first night stint.
