Do they run the same setup as in Indianapolis? Is it wide open all around?

There are some differences in the aero package, as there are more optional parts for Indy allowed. Rear Wing wickers are also not allowed at Texas.

long runs most likely will have some lifting, depending on if Firestone brings their usual tire compound for Texas (wear is usually pretty high)

Was last year's race good? Can't quite recall it tbh.

there wasn't as much action compared to the other oval races last year, but I thought it was decent with the pit strategy & the 2 Ganassi cars going back & forth for a decent bit.

Last year's race felt like a pre-Handford device CART superspeedway race to me. Things got strung out at times, handling REALLY came into play, but it still had its moments.

IMO 2012 was the only good DW12 Texas race. They've all been a letdown since that one.

Is that the year they cut the downforce?

First year of DW12, and that time Graham Rahal bounced off the wall with 3 to go, letting Justin win...

good race, but can't remember much of any Texas race lately. I appreciate the old school finesse of the racing, but it isn't really close. Well, rather this than pack racing...

on the old times from IRL, racing there was always filled with hard crashes

That 2012 race is always going to be my all-time favorites and I don't even like Indycar that much lol. That's how all racing oughta be.

The 2012 race was probably the biggest relief ever. I remember the concern that it could have become another pack race, but it didn't turn out that way.

The domed skids (always read doomed in my mind) will play a much bigger part here, according to Dixon. Because they can hit this track's bumps really hard depending of how you get into the corner.

I just wonder how much this will really play on the racing - maybe teams find a way to work around it with setups. Or they will be forced to a particular line. Or just some will be able to get over this challenge and thus solely contend for the win. And if we have big hits, maybe crashes? Or just a big lift of, or maybe one 3 laps to go upset because of it..... Maybe every 20 laps someone hits the bumps, we just don't know who will it be, like a Dega big one.

Maybe nothing, that usually happens when the anticipation is so.....

I did a racing experience at this track earlier this year and while the speeds involved were nowhere near as high (120mph), there's a huge bump right in the middle of 2 on the inside line. I have no idea how these cars even stay on track through that, given how low and fast they are

This track at the moment seems way more pleasant to watch than to drive. Still one of my favourite races of the year no doubt. The only fast oval where driving still is the element that is more important for the winning driver.

practice session under yellow again for Graham Rahal's car stalling, possibly a gear box issue.

Haven't watched any practice so far...how does the racing look? Pack-ish or the way we've seen them at Texas the last few years?
