Sure, Cart was so much better. It just was having a very painful slow death due to terrible broadcast here in Brazil from 1999 onwards, specially when they switched channels, live broadcast again, but the caster was a torture to hear. Meanwhile we had 2 Brazilians on top Penske positions on IRL, but I couldn't watch any, just imagine how cool it should have been tru a 10 word small note on the newspaper.

he was 24 when he left us with just the memories of sheer talent and raw speed
Image

24 years later his legend now outlives the man from Maple Rigde, the young canadian that still open smiles on our faces when we remember him at the victory lane, celebrating final lap passes, daring moves and a great display of talent at one of the most competitive racing scenes in history. Cars with 1000hp fighting on streets, road courses and speedways in search of glory, and we were fortunate to see the one displaying the number 99, the kid from Maple Ridge that deserve more than words, more than tributes

RIP Greg Moore, we'll never forget

As a kid, whenever I made a track record in Stunts game, I wrote his name on the records. No other driver ever made me do that.

Still my favourite short oval race of all time (how is that 30 years ago?).

The Brazilian duo that ended Penske's longest drought

The only reason I was paying attention to the otherwise pile of garbage that was IRL compared to Indycar.

Gil was definitely a proper talent

Helio never managed a championship despite some of the best machinery, so his talent is always going to be under question tbh

Nah, he was top tier on Superspeedways, probably learned some things from Rick Mears there. Anyways, lots of wins and top 2 finishes in Indy and Texas.

But it was also how charismatic they were doing interviews. Along with TK, nice trio.

In honor of Gil de Ferran, here is his first CART win at Laguna Seca.

And of course, his record-shattering qualifying run at Fontana in 2000. A record that may stand forever.
