Call it a screwjob, call it a fix, call it what you will--IndyCar's controversial unsafe pit exit call has thrown a curveball in the championship. Helio enjoys the extended lead with only four races left as the IndyCar Series heads out to Baltimore (aka Long Beach East).

So I'm assuming they've given up with the train tracks and the chicane is here to stay?

Yeaa, no way of smoothing that out.

Reminds me of either Grand Am or ALMS at Lime Rock one year where they restarted the race and a safety truck was sitting in the groove on the track in turn 1. That was a clusterfuck. WHOOPS!

Ugh, that chicane. Very disappointing to hear it's still around.

ALMS. Strangest thing was that the truck came out the pit lane pretty much as the safety car pulled in, must have been a big miscommunication somewhere.

Power was fastest in the first practice session by a little over a quarter of a second.

Ah yes, thanks! I still can't believe they all missed that truck.

That chicane looks so stupid

Dat Chicane

So, to prevent the cars getting airbournez over the tram tracks, Indycar has put in a chicane that.....causes airbournez.

Might as well just take it off and let them do a proper job.

It reminds me of the Street course Champcar ran in Las Vegas, they had a back chicane that caused ridiculous amounts of airz too.

GJ Indycar!

Lots of lols to be had at this track, it seems. Not only the safety truck incident but remember a couple of years ago when someone (Kanaan?) took advantage of a pile up at the hairpin, managed to take great avoiding action and gained about 12 places as a result, but Barnheart the embodiment of the no-fun police put him back behind the wreck for the restart?
What a douche! :p

That was more back breaking bouncing jumps that ruined the quality of the racing.

These are more lol worthy wheelies that might create some drama and mistakes that could result in overtaking afterwards.

Or a dramatic DNF more certainly. (Kanaan, again, remember? Not that it should be him this time).

Okay, the chicane is a little more exciting than I was expecting.

Yeah I can't see the tram tracks being anything like as bad as this:

That chicane proved more to be based on driver skill than it is a safety feature. Get the line wrong, you're gonna have a bad time.
