David Malukas has been let go by SPAM.

Someone should make a team with Hinch, Askew and Malukas as the drivers

Probably more to the Malukas story than what they are telling us.

You don't make an investment in someone like that then just dump them for little to no reason. But then again this is a team working with McLaren, so I can definitely see the logic here.

It appears that SPAM had the option to break the contract without penalty after Barber, and they didn't think he would be back any time soon.

Sorry, but Malukas brought this upon himself.

As for the cheating thing... They all cheat. Or they all try to push the grey area as much as possible if not outright cheating. If a team doesn't, then their high moral standards are all they get to hang their hat on because they won't be winning any trophies.

Crew Chief, Team, whatever... Their jobs are to push it or cheat... The sanctioning bodies job is to catch them.

Simple as that and it's true from grassroots to the very top. If you don't believe it, you're just fooling yourself. We raced for $2000 a week and I can assure you that our car was not legal on more than one occasion.

Driver 1 - "How do you know they're cheating?"
Driver 2 - "Because I'm cheating and they're beating me."

true story, like once Darrell once said "If you don't cheat, you look like an idiot; if you cheat and don't get caught, you look like a hero; if you cheat and get caught, you look like a dope. Put me where I belong." when they found out Junior Johnson was using chassis tubing to put nitrous oxide systems

I guess it depends how much you value integrity and/or winning legitimately.

People can say whatever they want to justify cheating; but the fact remains that those who do are people of low character. And unfortunately there are plenty of that kind of person around.

The 500 entry list drops to 34 as Enerson could not find a sponsor for Abel. The car may race later in the year with Abel Jr. driving.

Roger Penske has suspended a bunch of staff, including Tim Cindric, for the next two races (which includes Indy) for the P2P scandal.

Not sure what to make of this.

I'ts like publicly admitting your team manager is a lier/cheater... but then still leaving him in charge of the team (after a 3 week break).

And they're putting themselves on the backfoot for the biggest race of the year.

I'm surprised no one got sacked but I guess next time there will be.

Define winning legitimately.

IndyCar Live Pass seems to be 25% off now. Includes practice, qualifying, Indy NXT and depending on where you live might include the races or not. Thinking of getting the pass for may.

Pourchaire is SPAM's permanent replacement for Malukas, excepting the 500 which will likely be completed by Ilott.

The charter system is nearly ready.

https://racer.com/2024/04/03/the-devils ... structure/

The basic proposals are this;
-25 charters will be issued, a maximum of three for each current full-time team. The cars missing out will be Ganassi's #4 and #11.
-The charter will guarantee a starting spot at each race except the Indy 500, which may or may not be included in this. The series is sensitive to the backlash that came from the initial proposal, but the teams are very keen on guaranteed 500 spots.
-The grid size at every other race will be fixed at 27, meaning that if Prema do commit for next year, they (and anyone else who joins in such as a 4th SPAM car, Pratt Miller or Abel) will need to fight those 2 Ganassi cars to get on the grid.
-No decision has been made on whether or not to require payment for purchasing a charter or whether Penske Entertainment gets a cut of any charter sale.

An update, revealing that there will be no cost for the original charters and that there will not be guaranteed starting spots for the Indy 500.

No Pratt Miller in 2025, but they remain interested for the future.

This year is going to be a hybrid season, half not hybrid and half hybrid!
