Honestly no spectators doesn't bother me if that's the case. Kinda know it's gonna be the way things are for awhile when it comes to sports. Would love to go to the 500 some day. I was hoping to do at least one Indycar race this year before shit went south (Barber).

No spectators was it.

Sensible.

Quote:
“We didn’t buy the Speedway for one year, we bought it for generations to come, and it’s important to our reputation to do the right thing,”

He said the financial ramifications of not hosting spectators — which even at 25% capacity, the mammoth facility could have held about 80,000 people — played no part in his decision. Rather, the continued increase of COVID-19 cases in Marion County made shutting out spectators the responsible decision.

Best decision possible given how stupid the general public has been with the virus.

Roger buying the track & series has likely saved American Open Wheel Racing in the short term too, crazy how shit happens.

Looks like it might just be 33 after all - Carlin has given up on a second car, Juncos still doesn't have an aeroscreen for his chassis and Top Gun don't seem to have a car at all.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I'd just host a race, but not "The Indy 500". Make it a one weekend show, no bumping, 400 mile race. Winner doesn't get his face in the Borg Warner Trophy.

It'd help any potential one-off entry to focus on the race and not about missing it the previous weekend. They can get some support knowing that they'll be in the race and it'll serve as a dress rehearsal for the proper event, May 2021.

I've read there's serious doubt we'll get 33 entries without any help from the series. Having a secured place in the grid would help them to get sponsors.

You know, as weird and disappointing as that would be, the sanctity of the race is already compromised for the year.

Maybe alot of the already signed sponsors wouldn't be on board for "The Race at Indy" and would bolt for anything less than The 500.

No good answer at this point, but I still like your idea. Especially if we can't get to 33.

Byrd is back with Coyne. Davison will again be the driver.

This makes 32.

Maybe he can rekindle some of that 2011 performance with garage stall #4.

Or at least the first 499,4 miles of that race.

This was, literally, the only moment of Charlie Kimball's career where he did anything useful.
