Wow, this one was unexpected. Big loss for Dale Coyne.

Cannon's addition showed they were a bit better this year at times - especially Gateway with both cars at the front before Seb wrecked into the marbles

at least they still have Hampson

Hinch's career has very much stalled. Wickens flat out butt-kicked him during his rookie year so no wonder Schmidt has had second thoughts. I suppose it's time for some IMSA racing in Hinchtown.

I think Hinch will be a car, especially if Honda of Canada has anything to do with it - that and there's 2 HPD engine leases around too with SPAM-FART going to Illmor too

Wouldn't be suprised to find he either retires and becomes a Honda ambassador, or sets up his own team with Honda backing. Arrow won't follow him that's for sure, but could Lucas?

Good that Askew is getting a full season.

Not a lot of openings for Hinch. RLLR wants a driver with a full budget which PetroCanada and Honda aren't currently willing to put up. Similar story at Coyne (and Ferrucci is the favourite there anyway).

MSR haven't announced their plans but it would be a surprise to see them ditch Harvey.

Hinchtown Racing would also be a surprise - if the sponsors aren't willing to pay $8 million for one seat at an established team why would they spend $20 million to start from scratch?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

SPAM has officially announced Pato & Askew as their new drivers. Situation with Hinch was amicable & both have split. Wickens will stay with the team.

Really, Robbie still has a drive there when/if he's able?

Makes me think even more that this was Arrow's decision more than anything.

Granted, it costs nothing to keep Robbie on the team and it looks good PR wise, but still...

Robbie is still hellbent on getting back into a car, so I guess that is the case

also apparently Hinch is still under contract with SPAM-FART at this time, the team is willing to let him go if he finds another full-time ride in IndyCar or a other series

edit:

edit 2:
Hinch was forced to walk away from his Honda contract due to legal issues while still contracted by McLaren

According to Auto Action (an Australian racing publication) Indycar has been talking with the local government in Sydney to host a race there in 2021 at the earliest.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt for now but I really hope it happens. Eastern Creek shouldn't need too much to get ready for a IndyCar date and the doubleheader could have a ton of possibilities in the future (with the possible new dirt track filling the void of Parramatta, they could easily take the old Triple Challenge format and turn it into a all-out motorsport festival)

Guessing they would have IndyCar during the afternoon and the V8's at night (keeping it a SuperNight round), or 2 days of racing (i.e. usual V8 format) with both flip flopped / 1 day and 1 night)

https://www.thestar.com/sports/auto-rac ... ourse.html

Quote:
The problem for Hinchcliffe, who only found out about this last Sunday night, is that he has a contract, all right, but actually driving a racing car for Arrow McLaren SP next year is not part of the deal.

A source familiar with the situation, who has been granted anonymity to speak freely about the situation, told the Star that, “Schmidt Peterson have really put the screws to James. He was gobsmacked when they told him; for him, it came entirely out of the blue.

“They will pay him his salary (estimated in the neighbourhood of $500,000 U.S. a year) but to earn it he will have to go to the races and be in their hospitality unit and shake hands with people and talk about racing and be a personality. They might also have him do some appearances away from the races. They are on the hook for a lot of money and they will want to get their money’s worth.”

The insider added that if Hinchcliffe balks or refuses an assignment, the team would consider that a breach of contract and stop paying him.

Hinchcliffe’s lawyers, according to the source, have threatened to sue and been told that if they follow through, the team will stop paying him.

That's so petty. If he finds a new ride for 2020 and they still consider him to be in breach of the contract, they should be ashamed.

If Hinch sues and the team stop paying him, that's breach of contract too and just adds to Hinch's claim, you can't cross your arms and sit there saying I'm not playing anymore because you said nasty words to me, that's not how life works. (although I would be considering suing my own lawyer if he advised me to sigh a contract that didn't include a race seat rather than the team).

Is this a Zack Brown's influence? Sure seems like the Zack way of doing business, I don't ever remember SP being so nasty towards their drivers previously.

Allegedly an announcement coming at 11AM EST?

I can't believe it if it's true, but it looks like it might actually be legit.

https://racer.com/2019/11/04/breaking-hulman-and-co-sells-ims-indycar-to-penske/

Looks to be the real deal.
