CART ended the season at Laguna Seca for year after year

Yes there's one in the Chase in November. That one has been a traditional NASCAR date since 1988 however.

If its not Laguna Seca, then Fontana is the best place to end the season. 500 mile race, multi groove racing, title on the line. Better than Homestead.

Hmmmm. Ovals in the south without a fall Sprint Cup date would be Darlington (which would be too steep, I think), Nashville, Memphis (which I don't think has a SAFER barrier), the rock, deassembled mick yard aaaaaand Puebla, Mexico.

Leave it at Fontana. There was nothing wrong with the way it played out last year and we have the Tripple Crown back. Give it some time Indycar before you decide to fuck it up.

Walt Disney World Speedway for the season ender. That place holds maybe 100 spectators....perfect for an indycar race.

I liked Laguna Seca as the season closer. But finishing with a superspeedway race at Fontana is pretty special.

That used to be a complaint.

It's a site which writes about cars and is talking about motorsport. Yet it seems to know nothing about motorsport.

Gawker sites in general are pretty offensively bad, but jalopnik suffers from the same thing as Autoblog, where they think because they write about road cars that they know about motor racing too. He's basing his entire article on one good race, but worse than that he has no clue about anything but that race. Saying F1 has no passing is just stupid, and hasn't been the case for years. But if you want a true measure on how little the author knows, this line is the best -



Yeah there's no bullshit in open wheel racing is there. Except all the bullshit he talked about. Funny how everyone forgets just how fucked this series can be behind the scenes after 1 good race. A good race which you could argue occurred because the man who IndyCar sacked set up a good formula.

Don't want to bring the thread on a downer, because that race was bad ass, but it annoys the fuck out of me that sites like Gawker, and this author, Travis Okulski, site and write this utter shite that they know nothing about, just because they can utilise the English language better than most people. You could pick that article apart bit by bit and highlight all the bullshit that he talks about, but what's the point - the whole thing is crap.

Jalopnik doesn't seem to have a real Motorsports guy anywhere as an editor. So stuff tends to slip by.

Jesus Christ, dudes, it's just a one article aimed for the people who are into cars but not into motorsports. How often do you see them? Does it really hurt you that much that someone tries to put an effort to get more publicity and fans for motorsports? Yes, he uses "hype" and yes we know what's really going on, because we are 100% into this.

But what Motorsports and IndyCars need is more casual fans.

If you want to complain about bad articles about motorsports, complain about the articles that are about noise and environment and AGAINST motorsports.

When your article bad mouths other series whilst being completely incorrect then I say that's pretty bad.

But if it was up to me then Gawker would be banned along with the Daily Mail. I've no time for a company which has proven to be run, and filled with liars, thieves and "journalists" who openly accept bribes to write good articles. Sorry if that seems like an over reaction but they are the lowest of these news blogs.

According to speed, aerokits will be introduced next year for the tripple crown races at Indy, Pocono and Fontany. Honda doesnt seem to want them on the other tracks cause they fear to get their asses kicked since chevy already has a high downforce kit in development and Honda is beleived to have not.

Ehh, I know everyone's all for aerokits for the variety aspect, which I understand but I'd rather the series not turn into a costly (not to mention detrimental to racing) aero war.

I'm tired of spec racing.

If they're all butthurt about aero kits, this'll be Honda's opportunity to jump ship from Indycar and go back to F1. Getting closer and closer to seeing red & white Mac's again.
