Some of these must have been side-by-side ads. |

As far as I noticed, every green flag ad-break, was side by side. I don't mind about that. We get to watch the racing, they get to pay the bills. |

For the third time in succession, the Indy 500 in a year ending in the number 1 has been won by a driver not contesting the full IRL\Indycar schedule. All other editions in between have been won by full-timers. |

And that switching to being a full time driver the year after is the only reason he's celebrating his 4th right now and not his 3rd |

Also quite interesting that 2/3 of the drivers who won those races are Castroneves and if you go back further, 1991 was a 4th win, 1981 was a 3rd win (depending on how people see it) the 1's are a year for the multiples |

Sign me up for that. In other news, Helio is a draw. The Indy 500 is the most-watched race in the US this year. https://racer.com/2021/06/02/indy-500-t ... year-high/ |

Indys in years ending with '1' is not good for one-off winners in hindsight. Last time a one-time winner won in this year was 1951. Since 1961 it's either a multiple-winner or first of many (Foyt 1961, Castroneves 2001). 1971, 1981, 1991, 2011 were all won by previous winner. 1941 was both first of many (Rose) and only-timer (F. Davis). There are 53 one-time winners and only 4 of them have come in years ending with a '1' (1911, 1931, 1941, 1951). For instance years ending in a '6' have only two multiple-winners all time (Meyer 1936, Rutherford 1976). Fewest of all 10 digits and the complete opposite of '1'. |

races ended in 1 also had some interesting feats 71 being the last time a car without bolted wings won 81 having the winner decided in october after a lenghty legal battle 91 Mears won with a broken leg and 2011 with the winner having led only the final lap (actually only the final stretch) |

I like stats, but year number is such an arbitrary thing to stat about. Almost in astrology territory I'll be damned, this actually exists: https://myastro.com/myastropedia/tag/in ... 00-winners They don't have Helio though but here's the most recent winner there: |
