Let's not start any discussion about rear guards now. It's obvious they don't work when there is such a big speed difference between cars. We've seen GT cars one over another in situations like this, so chill people.

It's probably the first time I see an indycar getting into the fence at a street track with such an angle.

They should invest in better catch fencing tbh.

Oval catchfencing is permanent and so is reinforced.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

You can't be prepared for every possible freak situation like this.

Kudos to the cameraman who continued to pan the camera and not run for his life...

Yep thats true. You can be hurt at any point around a Racetrack and you should know the risk if you go there.A flying loose wheel can hit you everywhere, doesnt matter where you stand.

There's nothing wrong with it, aside from the unfortunate bit about it getting to the grandstand, the fence did it's job and kept the car trackside which is it's sole purpose, if you make the fence much stronger then it won't dissipate or absorb the energy of the crash and they'll probably be picking bits of drivers up in buckets again.

Tyre hit the red bridge and into the area behind the wall. Not into the stands.

Let's not overreact, it's heavily freakish and let's face it, in any racetrack you might get some debris as an spectator if hit properly, be 1 metre o 200 metres back... Like Stoegi says, you can't be ready for everything and it's rather hard to have unmoving walls in street races, they can't build them into the ground...

I say just put some work into better catch fencing for the temp street circuits.

The problem is that Reliant Park had a football game the week before and the track was built in the matter of days. I don't think they had time to reinforce the catch fencing.
