It does kill the idea of him winning the 500 stone dead. A part-timer hasn't won it since 2011.

All that needs to happen now is for the ACO to embrace the DPi formula, the Captain to send his Acuras over and then motorsport will have a worthy Triple Crown winner.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

He just needs to do the ovals this year. And get himself into a better team.

Let's be honest, other than a big three what team he can go to and hope for a real shot at winning?

Paul Tracy said that Rosenqvist is on thin ice after all the crashes he's been involved with so far. Is he though?

He has 3 more points than Ed Jones did this time last year (and Ed also had 2 podiums by the end of Detroit as well). Floyd will readily chuck drivers that don't deliver unless they're paying for a seat (also see Minassian, Nicolas).

There's also a quote from this superlative piece of keyboard diorrhea from Miller (the whole article is one paragraph); https://racer.com/2019/06/03/miller-ran ... few-weeks/

Quote:
Felix Rosenqvist is fast and has a great future, but he’s got to quit crashing because Chip isn’t known for his patience.

Just wondering. Who is available that would do a better job? It was just something PT said on air to make a narrative I think, but Felix has admitted this:

No. Neither would Jones, Kimball, Chilton, Ferrucci, O'Ward or Maldonado. Herta maybe, in a more reliable car.

Rosenqvist is championship material, kinda tough when you are involved in incidents that aren't actually your fault

then on single incident that is your fault is taken by the team and the press as the last straw that could end his indycar tenure

Paul Tracy suggesting a rookie driver being on thin ice for too many crashes is...

also look at Dixon's record in his first 4 years with Chip: he may have won the championship in 2003, but that was a year where all contenders were very inconsistent (including a crash behind the pace car at Indianapolis for Dixon). 2004 and 2005 were abysmal for Chip's standard.

Well, as unfair it would be to Felix if he'd get axed come season't end, that's Chip for you. Just listen to any of MP's podcasts with Mike Hull, he always says they only take on drivers who can deliver, not develop. And from Zanardi's era onwards that's kinda been the case, excluding the seasons @Dicksplaash mentioned.

You need time to let them settle in. Giving the drivers the boot after one season is only going to cause instability especially since Dixon is at the end of his career. Ganassi needs the stability that keeping Rosenqvist will bring.

Yes ^

Dixon wouldn't had won in Detroit if Bourdais would have had any spatial awareness. Dixon has not been intriguing me this year.

At the moment I would say that Newgarden and Rossi are by far and away the best drivers in the field.

Flawed logic IMO, since Ganassi usually has only had one championship contender all this time, except when they had the Dixon-Franchitti double barrel. Dixon-Wheldon and Zanardi-Vasser was never really that great, as one driver always was the superior one.

So, the future of Chip Ganassi Racing depends on Bourdais' level of spatial awareness.

Chilton's wimped out of the ovals. Daly will replace him at Texas.
