There will be some tweaking for qualifying and that can shake the current status quo quite a lot Btw, maybe you could say Pippa Mann also is doing a very fine job |

Basically the reaction of everyone that was hoping for a new track record this year: |

Haha. Yeah, whatever happens, this will be a historic qualifying. But probably not very exciting. |

It was just a cynical comment that does carry at least some validity. |

I don't give a fuck about track records on pole day if the cars are going to be detuned for the race. Well in the race they'll be in dirty air and battling for position. It won't be anything like the simplicity of today's TT session. Just look at last year's race: Dixon, Kimball, and Bell all lost it at some point and had accidents. |

I think Indycar will fix these issues by the 100th edition. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but they should fix this easily by then. Not pushing the envelope today for all time fastest pole time is a good change. Now everyone is able to do flat out laps, so cars are more stable and should not snap out of control. Still, there should have been more testing for high speed aerokits, just common sense that you test things before going to show the world what you've got. What Indycar has now ain't that great. |

I would like to share your optimism, but considering that the aero kits have been in the post since 2012 and even with 3 years of preparation they failed to test them properly on ovals, I have no confidence that Indycar will make the cars safe at the speeds they want them to reach for next year. |

I wonder if there's just too much extra surface area with all the bodywork on modern Indycars. Look at the 1996 cars when the speed records were set: they were extremely clean and trim. And the only car that got off the ground that year was due to riding up the back of another (Zampedri at the finish). |
