Don't know that he does. Indy Lights gives him 15 points, he should have 7 from Pro Mazda as he was second there, and I'm guessing that he has the extra 5 'good behaviour' points as well.

If his IMSA class paid the same points as the big boys, then he does have the points, but I don't see why a slower class would get the same number of SL points as the frontrunners.

Apparently he does have the points as he also has another 7 points from a F4 championship that he competed in in 2016. Which means that all Red Bull need to do is give him 2 races in an STR before the end of this season (COTA and AHR, anyone?) and it won't matter that he loses his 2016 points next year as he would be renewing his Superlicense as opposed to applying or reapplying.

Are they braindead? Hard to say who is behind all of these bad decisions but seems like Zak Brown is pretty inept. What exactly has he done other than sink McLaren further and further into this bottomless hole?

McLaren Racing CEO Brown believes that the team needs to understand how to get the 500 right before taking on an expanded IndyCar program

I think it's the other way around, Mr Brown.

To be honest I'm kind of tired of all this foreplay with McLaren. Either do it or don't, just stop sending press releases or whatever every week just to get people talkinf.

I hope Alonso understands he doesn't have time to wait for McLaren to "get it right" with these half-assed programs and breaks ties with McLaren so then he can join another team. Unless he is still seriously thinking about returning to F1.

O'Ward has now taken Iowa and Gateway off his schedule, presumably as oval racing is no longer a skill he needs to develop for his future. Carlin will still run 2 cars.
